We supply a wide variety of high-quality fruits and vegetables to retailers, restaurants, and foodservice partners. As we continue to grow throughout Oregon and Washington, we're looking for a driven Produce Buyer Representative to play a key role in our success. About the Role As a Produce Buyer, you will manage vendor relationships and source category-specific products to meet customer demand and drive growth. This role is essential in ensuring product availability, quality, pricing, and efficient logistics across our procurement operations. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to stay informed on product lines, availability, and programs Negotiate and secure supply through contracts and agreements Monitor product quality, pricing, and promotional opportunities Analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and inbound shipments to forecast purchasing needs Place and track purchase orders, ensuring timely fulfillment and clear communication of any issues Partner with the sales team to support promotions, ads, and customer needs Coordinate with logistics teams and carriers to ensure efficient product movement Support inventory management, including resolving receiving discrepancies and stock issues Accurately reconcile purchase orders, including pricing, credits, and additional charges Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to support daily operations Regularly inspect and evaluate product quality, including tasting and condition checks Remain flexible and responsive to evolving business needs and special projects Qualifications Proven experience in the produce industry or a related field (required) Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment Knowledge of produce varieties, seasonality, and quality standards Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Produce Pro (preferred) Willingness to travel within the assigned territory Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, or related field (preferred) Spanish language skills (preferred) Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with company match Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Cell phone and mileage reimbursement Life insurance and paid time off Ongoing professional development and career growth opportunities Collaborative, team-oriented work environment Our Commitment Caruso Produce is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
