Buyer

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

Procurement & Sourcing Source and purchase direct and indirect materials in accordance with company policies. Issue purchase orders and manage order confirmations, pricing, and delivery dates. Identify and qualify new suppliers; maintain strong relationships with existing vendors. Support strategic sourcing initiatives and cost-reduction programs. Supplier Management Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve best total cost of ownership. Monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness). Resolve issues related to shortages, quality problems, and late deliveries. Planning & Inventory Support Review MRP or demand signals and ensure timely replenishment of materials. Work with inventory and production teams to prevent stockouts or excess. Support inventory optimization initiatives. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Finance on sourcing decisions. Participate in new product introductions and supplier transitions. Support continuous improvement and process standardization efforts. Data & Reporting Maintain accurate purchasing records in ERP system (SAP). Track savings, supplier KPIs, and procurement metrics. Assist with audits and compliance requirements as needed. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement. Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or technical environments strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. Proficient with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, etc.). Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. Ability to read basic technical drawings or specifications. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Department and Supervisor The Buyer will be part of the Purchasing Department and will report to the Purchasing Manager
