5/1/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Position Summary Delaware County Community College (DCCC), located outside of the Philadelphia Metro area, is looking for a talented and dynamic Buyer to join our team of higher education professionals who are committed to student success. The Buyer is responsible for preparing and expediting purchase orders for materials, supplies, equipment and services for the College. This individual will handling various commodities required by the College including, but not limited to, furniture, copier equipment, science, medical, art and technical education lab supplies & equipment. Coordinates surplus sales and the responsible disposal of assets according to college policy. This position has access to sensitive DCCC financial, and employee information and is expected to handle such information confidentially with integrity and professionalism. Essential Functions Prepare materials and specifications to solicit quotations for materials/services. Evaluate quotes in accordance with college policies. Prepare purchase orders and maintain files on open orders. Maintain purchasing databases & other record systems. Identify alternate sources for equipment and supplies. Establish & maintain supplier relations. Manage supplier accounts for nationwide providers. Coordinate all aspects of surplus sales and the responsible disposal of assets according to college policy. Investigates and responds to complaints regarding condition and quality of merchandise; follows up on damaged or incorrect merchandise and duplicate orders. Provides information and assistance to staff regarding the status of purchases. Maintain database of equipment identified as surplus. Perform periodic audits and quality checks of purchasing related documents in the database. Prepares invitations for bid, requests for proposal and procurement orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Learn and apply emerging technologies and advances as necessary to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must be an engaging, effective, innovative, dynamic team player who fosters collaboration. This individual will be able to demonstrate the use of best practice strategies associated with all aspect of procurement and customer service. This individual will demonstrate the spirit of an independent problem-solver, and a willingness to go the extra mile. The Buyer will also have a demonstrated ability to encourage, model, embrace, and incorporate diverse thought and perspective of all individuals of various backgrounds, ideas, and perspectives to foster an all-inclusive environment and drive results. Experience & Education Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 4 years' experience in procurement in a professional setting; exposure to higher education setting preferred. Knowledge of Banner is preferred. An Associate degree from an accredited college or university in business or accounting is required. Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of Educational requirement.
