Beverage Manager Confidential Restaurant Group | Philadelphia, PA Position Summary A highly regarded, chef-driven restaurant in Philadelphia is seeking an experienced and passionate Beverage Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of its beverage program. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a best-in-class wine, cocktail, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage program while ensuring exceptional guest experiences, team development, operational excellence, and financial performance. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable about wine and spirits, thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, and is passionate about creating memorable guest experiences through thoughtful beverage offerings and service standards. Key Responsibilities Beverage Program Management Oversee all beverage operations, including wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and non-alcoholic offerings. Maintain and continuously evolve the beverage program to align with the restaurant's concept and guest expectations. Collaborate with culinary and operations teams to develop beverage pairings and seasonal offerings. Manage beverage menus, pricing strategies, and product selection. Stay informed on industry trends and introduce innovative offerings that enhance the guest experience. Inventory & Cost Control Monitor inventory levels and ordering processes to ensure appropriate stock levels. Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies. Manage beverage costs and work toward established profitability goals. Develop and maintain strong vendor and distributor relationships. Negotiate pricing and sourcing opportunities to maximize value while maintaining quality standards. Team Leadership & Training Recruit, train, coach, and develop front-of-house team members on beverage knowledge and service standards. Lead ongoing education programs focused on wine, spirits, beer, cocktails, and responsible alcohol service. Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance feedback and development conversations. Guest Experience Maintain a strong presence on the floor and actively engage with guests. Provide expert beverage recommendations and pairing suggestions. Assist with service during peak periods and support overall restaurant operations. Address guest concerns with professionalism and urgency to ensure exceptional experiences. Financial & Administrative Responsibilities Monitor beverage sales performance and identify revenue growth opportunities. Analyze sales trends and adjust programming accordingly. Manage purchasing, invoicing, and inventory reporting. Support annual budgeting and forecasting initiatives related to the beverage department. Compliance & Standards Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal alcohol regulations. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout all beverage storage and service areas. Uphold company policies, procedures, and service standards. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of beverage management, sommelier, or restaurant management experience in an upscale or fine dining environment. Strong wine knowledge required; formal wine education (CMS, WSET, or equivalent) preferred. Comprehensive understanding of spirits, cocktails, beer, and emerging beverage trends. Experience managing inventory, purchasing, and beverage cost controls. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
