Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Strategic Sourcing specialist will oversee strategic sourcing and purchasing efforts, and supplier performance management. It will include working closely with the operations team to ensure timely and successful transitions to production. This role is based at the Micro-Motion manufacturing site in West Chester, PA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. Responsible for handling the company's end-to-end sourcing and purchasing operations. Appraise and improve our sourcing activities by analyzing the company's spending, supplying partnerships and new possibilities. Analyze part-drawings for mechanical and electrical components and to be able to communicate needs to suppliers. Lead all purchasing related activities that support prototype projects, pre-production, and transition to production. Select from approved suppliers or identify and develop new supplier options by obtaining detailed knowledge of supplier's manufacturing processes and inspection methods, to optimize quality, delivery, and cost. Support production related sourcing activities including but not limited to problem solving material shortages, supplier performance monitoring, identifying and pursuing cost savings opportunities, and developing advanced sourcing related process and tools. Own component sourcing process and timeline until items are internally qualified. Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies. Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditures. Perform Make vs Buy analysis for new and existing parts. Cooperate with stakeholders to guarantee agreement on terms and processes. Estimate risks and apply risk minimizing techniques. Participate in Continuous Improvement workshops and Kaizen events. Identify Wastes throughout the Sourcing and Purchasing processes. Benchmark and incorporate best practices.
COMPETENCIES
Ability and willingness to lead and work in a matrix organization with direct and indirect reporting relationships. Expert in the utilization of MRP systems. Extraordinary analytical and data analysis capability. Team player. Communicate effectively with all functions and site leaders. Results-focused and detail-oriented. Exceptional problem-solving capability. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of various material grades. Working knowledge of inspection and measurement tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers, Gages). Familiarity with precision manufacturing processes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent 3+ years of experience in Supply chain or Manufacturing environment Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Problem Solving / process improvement tools is preferred. Experience with Quality Systems and ISO requirements is preferred Experience with international suppliers and related compliance and logistics issues is preferred Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
