About this role Responsible for procuring goods and services for assigned areas at the lowest cost appropriate. Maintains communication with vendors and department, researches competitive prices and services, and assists with the preparation of electronic purchase orders. Coordinates purchase orders and prices of materials, equipment and/or services. Maintains bid files for reference and audit purposes, and prepares and/or analyzes reports of purchasing activities. What a day of a Buyer looks like : Coordinates purchasing activities. Meets, and communicates with current or potential vendors. Performs follow up with vendors, as needed. Processes requisitions and prepares purchase orders. Administers purchasing policies and procedures. Answers questions and resolves problems of personnel participating in activities. Prepares training materials and job aids. Conducts end-user trainings. Prepares, issues and renews requests for bids and proposals. Makes or coordinates necessary advertisements and public notices. Includes evaluation of proposals and bids once received. Studies prices, trends, market conditions, and identifies sources of supply and new product development. Monitors College purchasing expenditures to ascertain whether or not they are exceeding competitive thresholds. Assists in the preparation of electronic purchase orders. Prepares, or assists in preparing, specifications for purchases of materials, supplies, and equipment. Evaluates products. Designs complex spreadsheets, with multiple function formulas and links. Monitors, evaluates and coordinates services provided by outside vendors. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:
Education and Experience:
Associate's degree or two years of college coursework, or related experience accepted in lieu of degree One year related experience
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications Skilled in: Delivering a high level of customer service Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management Promoting cooperative behavior and team efforts Ability to: Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of service Research information for problem solving
