Job Description:
About the Role Airswift is working in partnership with a confidential, publicly traded leader in utility infrastructure services in North America. They are currently seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Buyer to support the acquisition of heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, aerial lifts, digger derricks, backhoes) used in electric and gas utility construction operations. This role will collaborate with field teams and suppliers to ensure equipment is correctly specified, ordered, and delivered in alignment with operational timelines.

Hybrid Responsibilities:
Support capital purchasing initiatives for heavy construction equipment used by utility construction crews Work closely with operations/field stakeholders to confirm equipment requirements, specifications, and timing needs Engage suppliers and OEM partners to support pricing, availability, lead time management, and delivery coordination Create and track Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders within the P2P/ERP system; update PO status with current delivery information (SAP preferred) Maintain continuous communication with suppliers to manage equipment inventory, scheduling, and delivery expectations Maintain clear documentation and procurement tracking; keep requestors updated on order status and delivery timing Perform invoice/quote matching and support accurate billing and procurement documentation Track and maintain Assets Under Construction (AUC) where applicable and support asset record accuracy Support broader supply chain initiatives (national agreements, logistics, inventory support, and cost reduction opportunities)
Required Qualifications:
3-5+ years of experience acquiring heavy equipment in utility construction or similar construction/field operations environments Strong equipment knowledge and ability to understand specifications and OEM options; field/equipment expertise is prioritized over formal procurement background Experience managing POs/requisitions and working within ERP/P2P systems (SAP preferred but not required) Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel) with ability to manage tracking logs and procurement data Strong vendor relationship management, organization, and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, finance, and suppliers Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify; no sponsorship) and able to pass background/drug screening Ability to travel as needed (up to 25% max) Compensation & Benefits Base salary + Bônus PTO Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage; 401(k) Equal Opportunity Statement We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any federal, state, or local protected class.
