JOB PURPOSE
Manage inventory to minimize both out of stocks and surplus inventory. Utilize forecast, sales history, and inventory levels to create and maintain purchase orders. Communicate with demand planning to aid in refinement of forecast in response to changing market conditions. Establish and coordinate enforcement of vendor compliance. Implement and track vendor programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze and assess the market to make educated and strategic purchases. Track and achieve inventory levels and turn projections based on forecasted sales. Collaborate with demand planning to develop process and communication channels to minimize stock outages and maximize growth potential. Monitor supplier performance to ensure purchasing agreements are met, products are delivered timely and invoiced properly. Negotiate purchase prices, favorable payment terms and process purchase orders. Develop and implement vendor programs to maintain profitability and support merchandising and promotion initiatives. Monitor pricing and programs by product by vendor to determine most profitable sourcing that fits current business strategies. Forster a culture of professional development through training, mentorship, and teamwork with both peers and subordinates. Works with managers, directors, and executives within the company thru proper channels to engage in capital projects. All other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Experience in purchasing or comparable analytics or planning fields is preferred. Familiar with software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Bi and PowerPoint. Fundamental understanding of sales, marketing and inventory management. Strong skills in negotiation and planning. Proficient in statistics, mathematics and analytics. Self-motivated, strong organizational and time management skills. Effective communication skills with all levels of the business. Maintains a positive attitude, is goal driven and focused on the betterment and overall strategic picture of the organization.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hours are somewhat flexible, with employees required to attend both team and individual meetings. Occasionally additional hours may be optional or mandatory to complete essential tasks. All work is performed within an office environment with occasional warehouse exposure. Occasional travel may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Employee will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. Employee may be required to lift objects weighing from less than 20 lbs. to 40 lbs. on rare occasion. May also be required to walk and stand for long periods during occasional trade show seasons.
