Who You Are:
The Urban Electric Company is a fast-growing designer and manufacturer of luxury lighting fixtures. Our products combine craftsmanship, engineering, and globally sourced materials. We are seeking a Buyer to manage supplier execution and ensure a reliable flow of materials to support production. This role is responsible for purchase order management, supplier performance, and on-time delivery once suppliers have been selected and onboarded. The Buyer partners closely with Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain Operations, and Planning to maintain continuous flow of supply, resolve disruptions, and drive day-to-day supplier accountability. Life:
In this role, you will spend much of your time evaluating parts demand, forecasting, purchasing, and ensuring delivery of machined parts needed that are on-time and at the right price. The commodities you manage may include machined parts, stampings, castings, and metal spins. In any given day, you might find yourself doing these job-related tasks: Manage day-to-day supplier execution for assigned commodities and suppliers Own purchase order from placement through delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Monitor and drive on-time delivery performance, expediting orders where necessary Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm schedules, address delays, and resolve issues Track and manage open orders, identifying risks and taking action to prevent disruptions Partner with Supply Chain Operations and Planning teams to align supply with demand priorities Utilize vendor scorecards to monitor supplier performance across delivery, quality, and service Address delivery discrepancies, quality issues, and damaged goods, including returns and credits Set priorities with Receiving and Quality teams to ensure smooth material flow to production Maintain accurate data in ERP systems, including purchase orders, lead times, and supplier information Provide feedback to Strategic Buyers on supplier performance and ongoing risks Escalate supplier performance issues, capacity constraints, or recurring disruptions to upper management Support new product launches by ensuring timely ordering and delivery of initial production quantities after sourcing is complete Assist with accounting coordination related to purchase orders, receipts, and invoice reconciliation Additional responsibilities as assigned What will Set You Up for
Success:
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to develop trust with suppliers and internal teams. 5+ years of sourcing, procurement, or supply chain experience in manufacturing Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred Experience working with domestic and international suppliers Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills Experience supporting new product introduction or product development initiatives Familiarity with ERP systems and bill of materials structures Ability to manage multiple projects and supplier relationships simultaneously Some Benefits & Perks of Working at The Urban Electric Co.
