  • Full-time Position Summary The Buyer is responsible for managing the procurement of direct and indirect materials essential to SWM's manufacturing operations.
The buyer reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager, North America. This role ensures reliable supply, cost optimization, supplier performance, and compliance, covering key categories such as pulp, fibers, chemicals, resin, packaging materials, MRO supplies, and capital‑related indirect goods. The Buyer will leverage strong analytical and negotiation skills to drive value, mitigate risk, and support operational excellence. Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Strategy & Execution
  • Develop sourcing strategies for direct and indirect material categories including pulp, fibers, resin, chemicals, packaging, MRO, and facility supplies.
  • Execute RFIs, RFQs, negotiations, and competitive bid events to secure best‑value supply.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders ensuring accuracy, timely delivery, and cost adherence.
  • Track market trends, raw material indices, and industry cost drivers to support strategic decisions. Supplier Management
  • Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers that meet SWM's requirements for quality, cost, service, and sustainability.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and long‑term supply agreements.
  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, audits, scorecards, and corrective action processes.
  • Foster collaborative supplier partnerships supporting innovation and process improvement. Cost, Inventory & Operations Support
  • Analyze spend data to identify cost‑reduction and productivity improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Planning, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure material availability for production schedules.
  • Support inventory optimization while maintaining supply reliability.
  • Resolve shortages, quality issues, and delivery discrepancies efficiently. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Logistics on new product introductions and supply risk mitigation.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on procurement best practices and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Contribute to cross‑functional improvement initiatives and strategic projects. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Prepare performance reports including dashboards on supplier performance, market conditions, cost savings, and risk exposure.
  • Lead cost‑out initiatives, process optimization efforts, and sustainability‑focused improvements. Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with emphasis on direct materials preferred. Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong negotiation and contract management capability.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating direct materials for operations.
  • Knowledge of indirect categories including MRO, facility supplies, and CapEx‑related purchasing.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Oracle) and Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical skills with ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Pay:
$52,000.00
