Parts Purchasing Specialist

Vander Haag's is an industry leader in the heavy-duty truck and equipment parts and service sector. We are seeking a motivated Parts Purchasing Specialist to join our rapidly growing Purchasing team.

Position Summary:

You'll play a critical role in ensuring reliable parts availability while contributing directly to profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. You'll collaborate with a strong Purchasing team in a stable, day-shift environment with minimal travel and high impact on the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, analyzing data, and delivering measurable results in a fast-paced parts environment. This position can be based on-site out of any of the following locations: Spencer, IA; Sioux Falls, SD; Hull, IA; or Sanborn, IA.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the Purchasing team to strategically source and procure parts, balancing stock levels, demand forecasts, and requests from Sales and Service to optimize availability and minimize costs. Collaborate on maintaining accurate inventory data and setting smart reorder parameters to reduce stockouts and excess inventory. Analyze sales trends, market conditions, and usage data to deliver accurate forecasts and support smarter purchasing decisions. Build and strengthen relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers (OEM and aftermarket); negotiate competitive pricing, terms, delivery schedules, and volume incentives that deliver real savings. Contribute insights and recommendations on procurement strategies, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives to leadership. Ensure pricing and product data in the ERP/MRP system stays accurate, supporting reliable decision-making across the organization. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with ERP/MRP systems is a big plus. Comfortable navigating the internet and various software applications. Solid analytical, negotiation, and organizational skills with high attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Schedule & Compensation:

Full-time, day shift position - Monday through Friday. Salaried (overtime exempt) role with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required.

Travel:

Occasional business travel to trade shows and other Vander Haag's store locations (overnight travel is less than 5%).
