Job Description Langmuir Systems is seeking a disciplined and proactive Supply Chain Engineer / Purchaser / Buyer to support our manufacturing operations. This role ensures materials are available to meet production demands, maintains accurate ERP data, and drives inventory discipline across the organization. You will execute daily purchasing responsibilities while taking ownership of supply chain performance and identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems. This is a hands-on, tactical role with a strategic mindset. We are looking for someone who supports production with urgency, solves problems at the root cause, and takes pride in building reliable systems, strong supplier relationships, and accurate data. Key Responsibilities •Production Material Support & Availability:
Ensure uninterrupted material flow to support daily and weekly production schedules. Monitor demand signals, review shortages proactively, and place purchase orders in alignment with build plans to prevent disruptions. •Purchase Order Execution & Accuracy:
Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in Epicor with high attention to detail. Verify pricing, quantities, delivery dates, and terms to ensure accuracy and alignment with production timelines. •Supplier Communication & Vendor Management:
Maintain professional, accountable relationships with suppliers. Proactively monitor open orders, confirm delivery schedules, resolve delays, and hold vendors accountable for on-time delivery, quality, and cost performance. •Shortage Resolution & Root Cause Analysis:
Take full ownership of material shortages and supply chain issues. Investigate root causes, implement permanent corrective actions, and strengthen processes to prevent recurring problems. •ERP Data Integrity & Process Discipline:
Champion Epicor as the system of record. Maintain accurate part data including lead times, pricing, minimum order quantities, and supplier records. Identify and implement improvements that enhance data reliability and purchasing effectiveness. •Inventory Accuracy & Planning Discipline:
Support proper stocking levels by aligning purchasing decisions with demand forecasts and production needs. Investigate inventory discrepancies and drive system and process improvements that strengthen inventory accuracy. •Cross-Functional Collaboration & Production Partnership:
Work closely with Production, Engineering, Warehouse, and Operations teams to ensure purchasing decisions support manufacturing efficiency, new product introductions, and operational goals. •Continuous Improvement & Cost Awareness:
Identify opportunities to reduce lead times, improve supplier performance, streamline purchasing workflows, and strengthen overall supply chain reliability. Contribute to building disciplined, scalable purchasing processes. Qualifications 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in an ERP/MRP system (Epicor experience strongly preferred). Solid understanding of lead times, inventory control, and production-driven purchasing. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with system data accuracy. Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, production-focused environment. Clear and professional communication skills with both internal teams and external suppliers. Proficiency in Microsoft business systems and ERP systems.
