The Purchasing Agent is responsible for establishing and maintaining organized processes and procedures to ensure efficient plant inventory management and purchasing operations. This role includes maintaining supply chains, identifying and evaluating new suppliers, and negotiating and procuring parts and supplies in a timely manner. The agent ensures optimal inventory levels while meeting quality, cost, and operational objectives.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Key duties of the position include but are not limited to: Sourcing and Procurement Identify and procure necessary equipment, parts, and materials to support operational needs. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and quality standards. Evaluate purchasing costs, analyze trends, and identify opportunities for savings and process improvements. Purchase Order Management Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders in alignment with company policies and approval processes. Track and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment. Inventory and Logistics Receive incoming shipments and accurately stock inventory. Implement inventory control strategies to minimize waste and prevent shortages. Monitor stock levels of critical supplies, ensuring timely restocking to avoid operational disruptions. Vendor and Relationship Management Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and vendors. Coordinate with internal departments to align purchasing with production and service needs. Part Runner Duties Deliver and collect parts or materials between vendors and job sites as needed. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, receipts, and transfers of goods.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong written and verbal communication skills Effective collaboration with suppliers, plant management, maintenance, and production teams Highly organized with strong attention to detail Proficient in computer systems and accurate record-keeping Team-oriented with a collaborative work stylePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to lift up to 50 lbs Must be able to climb, reach overhead, carry, stand, stoop, and perform repetitive motionsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
