Role Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for independently managing procurement activities, sourcing strategies, and supplier relationships within a manufacturing environment that includes machined components, metals, steel products, and fabricated industrial parts. The role requires strong technical purchasing experience and the ability to support engineering, operations, and production through effective cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage purchasing and material planning for assigned commodities with a high level of independence. Source and procure machined parts, steel, metals, and fabricated industrial components. Lead cost reduction projects, sourcing initiatives, and supplier transitions. Build and maintain a cost savings pipeline with measurable annual improvements. Analyze supplier quotations using cost driver logic and should cost principles. Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, finance, and planning teams. Support new product launches, engineering changes, and supplier readiness activities. Monitor supplier performance, including delivery, quality, pricing, and responsiveness. Conduct supplier visits, performance reviews, and capability assessments. Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cost, waste, or variability. Stay informed on market conditions, pricing trends, and supply chain risks related to metals and manufacturing.
Qualifications:
B.S. in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. 3+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment Proven negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost reductions. Strong analytical and problem solving abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities. Ability to lead sourcing related projects and work effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
