Norfolk, VA Summary:
A global manufacturer operating in the aerospace and industrial manufacturing sector is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to support site-level procurement operations. Reporting to the Procurement Operations Manager, this role will support procurement strategies designed to ensure continuity of supply, cost effectiveness, supplier performance, and operational efficiency. The position plays a key role in supporting production schedules while delivering best-value purchasing outcomes in compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Support procurement of materials and services required for manufacturing operations and production schedules. Prepare and issue requests for quotations and proposals based on operational and plant requirements. Evaluate supplier quotations and conduct cost analyses to determine best value based on price, quality, schedule, and capability. Negotiate commercial terms including pricing, lead times, and payment terms in alignment with operational goals. Issue and maintain purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of pricing, account codes, quantities, and delivery commitments. Monitor and resolve invoices on hold in coordination with internal teams and external suppliers. Ensure compliance with procurement procedures and support internal and external audit requirements. Provide responsive, service-oriented support to manufacturing and business operations.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available. Ability to obtain access to export-controlled items, where applicable.
Preferred:
Three or more years of experience in procurement, supply chain, contracts, or a related business function. Experience working within an ERP system (e.g., Oracle or similar enterprise platforms). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills.
