Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Seeking a strong performer for our Hardware & Cellular PVC Division who will assist in managing and executing the planning and procurement activities aimed at improving capacity readiness, reducing costs, and improving inventory efficiencies, while maintaining high levels of customer service. The Buyer/Planner uses analytical and quantitative methods to understand, predict, and enhance the planning and procurement process. This role is responsible for ensuring that all products are ordered in the correct quantities at the most economical cost, delivered on time, and meet all quality specifications.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute the planning and purchasing process to procure products at the lowest total cost, consistent with approved quality and delivery standards.
- Select pre-qualified suppliers based on defined selection criteria (cost, quality, productivity, delivery, etc.).
- Manage the timely, cost-effective delivery of products.
- Ensure that all vendors provide timely and accurate production and delivery schedules.
- Identify any supply issues and resolve or mitigate them.
- Participate in and contribute to the company's Sales & Operations Planning Process.
- Communicate with all relevant logistics partners and select shipments based on cost and delivery performance.
- Create and maintain all required purchase orders.
- Effectively expedite orders to minimize service disruptions and out-of-stock occurrences.
- Participate in developing supplier relationships. Contribute to efforts and initiatives that serve to enhance current supplier capabilities.
- Enter all item and cost updates into the company's ERP system.
- Collaborate on the introduction of new products by ensuring that all system and material procurement requirements are met.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate suppliers across key performance areas, including quality, delivery, and cost.
- Manage procurement files and track/report purchasing activity and metrics, as required.
- Collaborate with the Sales and Distribution Teams to resolve any non-compliance or backorder issues.
- Coordinate with Accounting as necessary on any required vendor payments.
- Maintain a continuous-improvement mindset. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Recommend process changes to improve performance.
- Maintain a baseline understanding of external market factors that could affect supplier production, delivery, and pricing. Examples include import regulations, taxes and tariffs, health and power grid concerns, and any other political or economic variables that may apply.
- Interact with suppliers on various strategic topics, as directed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's degree in purchasing, materials management, supply chain, logistics, or other suitable field is required, as is a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a planning or purchasing role.
- Experience participating in corporate sales and operations planning processes, along with net planning procurement activities.
- Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems. Specific experience with MS Dynamics AX or 365 is not required, but would be a plus.
- A high level of competency in using various MS Office software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form, interpret key reports, be well-organized, and work cohesively with other members of a strong performing team.
- Ability to make sound business judgments and apply problem-solving skills as required.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Possess a solid level of mathematical acumen and know technology-driven operational and supply chain processes.
- Experience working with offshore factories is preferred.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per yearBenefits:
