Job Description:
A manufacturing company in the Milwaukee area is looking to add a Buyer to their team! This person will conduct transactions involved in the procurement of manufacturing materials, including raw materials, machined parts and sub-assemblies, tools, supplies, services etc. in accordance with approved requisitions and procedures. This role will be mostly execution buying, with very little sourcing and is direct hire. Employees can work hybrid in this role and should have experience with SAP. Key Responsibilities Review material requisitions within the ERP system to verify quantities, specifications, and delivery requirements. Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, components, and manufacturing services. Solicit and analyze supplier quotations for items not covered under existing agreements. Work closely with vendors and subcontractors to procure fabricated, machined, and welded components. Identify and qualify alternative suppliers based on quality, cost, lead time, and overall performance. Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve the best value while meeting business requirements. Assess supplier capabilities to provide materials, finished goods, and specialized services. Interpret technical drawings and communicate engineering requirements, including dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and manufacturing specifications, with suppliers. Select suppliers through quote evaluation, established agreements, or approved procurement procedures. Generate purchase orders within authorized spending limits and collaborate with procurement leadership on higher-value purchases. Monitor open orders and supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality, quantity, and delivery commitments. Resolve invoice discrepancies and address issues related to supplier performance. Support supplier qualification activities, including audits, site visits, and performance evaluations. Maintain accurate purchasing records and procurement documentation. Partner with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Receiving teams to address nonconforming materials, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance supply chain efficiency, quality, and supplier reliability.
What We Are Looking For:
At least 3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment ERP experience with SAP Ability to interpret data from manufacturing requisitions and procure the materials needed at price/quality standards Salary of $75,000 - $85,00 annually + benefits and more!
