POSITION SUMMARY
Current opening: One Full-Time position (40 hours per week)
The Purchasing Agent places orders for needed supplies, equipment, and services necessary to support the clinical objectives and operations of Powell Valley Healthcare. Issues purchase orders to approved vendors to obtain materials, equipment, and services at the lowest total cost, highest quality, and urgency of need in accordance with PVHC policies, procedures, government laws and regulations and business strategies which support our patient care and cost reduction efforts. The Purchasing Agent is involved in maintaining data integrity and purchasing process development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for placing purchase orders for needed supplies, equipment, and services at the lowest total cost for both inventory and non-inventory categories.
Responsible for cost savings through negotiation, standardization, and process improvement, including but not limited to inventory turns, inventory accuracy, and contract compliance. Track and report on a monthly basis.
Maintain knowledge of purchasing contracts, tier structures, contract portal, and reporting analyses. Conduct contract reviews with Director to maximize contract compliance and cost savings.
Maintain integrity of Materials Management (MM) information system including issuing, adjusting daily cycle count corrections, item and vendor catalogs, open PO and received not invoiced reports.
Monitor backorders and product shortages to ensure consistent product availability.
Maintain issuing and cycle count records.
Identify slow moving and obsolete inventory and recommend changes to inventory levels.
Creates item numbers based on the standardized naming convention.
Complete vendor returns as necessary.
Resolve order/invoicing issues.
Responsible for verifying secondary checks of OR implant log charge sheets as needed.
Maintain secure spreadsheet of all ordering sites login information.
Reconcile monthly VISA statement against purchases.
Serve as a backup to the OR Materials Coordinator position as needed.
Maintain positive working relationships with all PVHC employees to ensure adherence to correct ordering/requisitioning processes and contract compliance.
Maintain a successful working relationship with sales representatives to ensure open communication channels between PVHC and vendors.
Demonstrates competency in computer skills through the capacity to learn and apply electronic applications to improve departmental and organization performance.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School diploma or GED.
Associate degree or bachelor's degree (preferred).
One (1) to three (3) years purchasing and/or materials management experience within a healthcare or similar environment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Basic Math skills.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Microsoft Office, Excel.
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Follow verbal and written procedures and standards.
Operate typical office equipment such as PC, printers, calculator, fax machine, and copiers.
Adapt to frequently changing requirements while still maintaining regularly scheduled tasks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
Regularly lift and or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Frequent stooping, bending and crouching.
Handling, reaching, feeling, talking and hearing are involved in processing.
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Visual acuity both far and near is required.
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.
May be subject to exposure to toxic chemicals, biological agents, blood, body fluids and radiation materials.
