Logistics Manager Summary:
The Freight Analyst is responsible for analyzing, managing, and optimizing freight spend while ensuring efficient transportation operations. This role partners with carriers, internal stakeholders, and vendors to identify cost savings opportunities, improve delivery performance, and ensure freight compliance with company standards and contracts. Key Responsibilities:
Analyze freight invoices, contracts, and shipment data to identify cost savings, billing errors, and optimization opportunities Audit freight bills and resolve discrepancies with carriers and third-party logistics providers Track freight performance metrics including; cost per shipment, on-time delivery, claims, and carrier scorecards Support carrier selection, contract negotiations, and rate benchmarking Develop and maintain freight dashboards and reporting for leadership Collaborate with procurement, operations, warehouse, and customer service teams to improve shipping efficiency Identify opportunities to consolidate shipments, optimize routes, and improve mode selection Ensure compliance with freight policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements Support freight claims processing and root cause analysis Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and freight spend tracking
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Logistics, or related field preferred 2-5 years of experience in freight, transportation, logistics, or supply chain analytics Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power BI/Tableau a plus) Experience with TMS systems, ERP platforms, and freight audit tools preferred Strong communication and negotiation skills High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Key Competencies Cost analysis and optimization Data-driven decision making Vendor management Process improvement mindset Cross-functional collaboration Time management and organization Performance Metrics Freight cost savings achieved Invoice accuracy rate On-time delivery improvement Carrier performance compliance Budget adherence What makes
