Job Description

Job Summary The International Freight Forwarding Associate is responsible for coordinating and executing global shipments across air and ocean freight channels. This role requires expertise in international logistics, customs compliance, and trade regulations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods. The associate serves as a key liaison between customers, carriers, customs brokers, and overseas agents. Key Responsibilities Coordinate international shipments (import and export) via air and ocean freight Manage end-to-end shipment lifecycle, including booking, documentation, tracking, and delivery Prepare and review international shipping documents such as: Commercial invoices Packing lists Bills of lading / air waybills Certificates of origin Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs laws, export controls, and import requirements Work closely with customs brokers to facilitate clearance and resolve any customs issues Communicate with overseas agents, carriers, and clients to ensure smooth shipment execution Provide accurate freight quotes, including duties, taxes, and landed cost estimates Track shipments proactively and resolve delays, damages, or discrepancies Maintain accurate records in freight management systems and ensure data integrity Monitor shipping costs, margins, and identify opportunities for optimization Stay current on Incoterms, tariffs, and global trade updates Qualifications High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or related field preferred 2-5 years of international freight forwarding experience (air and/or ocean required) Strong understanding of import/export processes and global shipping documentation Knowledge of Incoterms (2020) and international trade compliance requirements Experience working with customs brokers and international carriers Familiarity with freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Magaya, or similar) Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of international logistics operations High attention to detail, especially with compliance and documentation Excellent communication skills across global teams and time zones Problem-solving mindset with ability to manage shipment exceptions Ability to prioritize and manage multiple shipments simultaneously Customer-focused with a sense of urgency and accountability Working Conditions Office-based role with frequent coordination across international time zones Occasional extended hours to support global shipping schedules Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Licensed Customs Broker or working knowledge of brokerage processes Experience with hazardous materials (IATA/IMDG certification) Multilingual capabilities Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based incentives Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Career growth opportunities in global logistics
