Job Goal:
The primary job goal for an alternative school CEO is to provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that fosters academic growth and positive behavioral change for students struggling in traditional settings. To maximize graduation rates, improve social-emotional skills, and support student reintegration into conventional schooling or successful transition to postsecondary life.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of L-5 Educational Leadership Certification Minimum of three years of experience in public school administration and supervision Minimum of five years successful teaching experience Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find acceptable and appropriate
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prompt and regular attendance Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school Serves as the school's Educational Leader Works collaboratively with colleagues, school staff, parents, community members, and others to improve student achievement Initiates, designs, and implements programs to meet specific needs of the school Coordinates and/or supervises such support services as maintenance, security, food services, financial and accounting functions and other areas as necessary Identify, develops and implements programs to support students in earning a high school diploma and being prepared for post-secondary opportunities Supervises in-service and curriculum development activities at the site Collaborate with other administrators, district personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs; resolves issues and conflicts and exchanges information Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their work performance Properly manages and controls school fund expenditures Orients all new staff members to assure proper growth and development within the school culture Assures the proper dissemination of information Establishes and maintains an effective plan for the safety of both students and staff Ensures compliance with Board policies and administrative procedures Discusses and resolves individual student problems and addresses parental concerns Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and appropriate developmental activities as appropriate for continued professional development Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or deemed appropriate to the school administration/operation Assures that the student code of conduct is properly, fairly, and consistently enforced at the school for all students Performs all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Light Work:
Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System's approved salary schedule- CEO of Special Programs. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
