This is a unique opportunity to lead Mattapan Community Health Center, as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the onlymunity health center serving the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston, theanization plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, accessible healthcare to some of Boston's most underserved residents. Mattapan Community Health Center (MCHC) is a financially strong and mission driven Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a longstandingmitment tomunity health and health equity. The next CEO will be apassionate, visionary leader who is deeplymitted to primary care, understands the challenges facing vulnerable populations, and is dedicated to advancing the Center's mission of improving the health and well-being of populations it serves and providing exceptional care to all patients. COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER
Mattapan Community Health Center (MCHC) is aprehensive health deliveryanization that serves individuals from the Mattapan, Dorchester, Roxbury and Hyde Park neighborhoods of Boston, as well as adjacent Boston suburbs like Brockton, Randolph, and Stoughton. The mission of MCHC is to improve the health of and tby help enhance the quality of life for all residents of Mattapan and surroundingmunities by providing exceptional primary care and preventive health and social services. For more than 40 years, MCHC has been a trusted source of high-quality,munity- based healthcare for individuals and families across the region. Established in 1972 as the Avenue Neighborhood Health Center and incorporated in 1974 as MCHC, theanization has served as a cornerstone ofmunity-based healthcare for more than five decades. Independently licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health since its inception, MCHC continues to operate as an independent,munityernedanization. Its Board of Directors reflects the diversemunities served by the Health Center, ensuring that local voices and perspectives help guide theanization's strategic direction and mission. MCHC's success is supported by a highly skilled and diverse workforce, including a dedicated Senior Executive Team and experienced staff who are deeplymitted to delivering high- quality, culturally responsive care. Together, they foster an environment centered onpassion, excellence, innovation, and service to themunity. MCHC serves a diverse and multicultural patient population, including a significant number of Caribbean immigrants and other historically underservedmunities. Consistent with its mission, the Health Center providesprehensive, accessible care to individuals and families who are uninsured, underinsured, economically disadvantaged, or otherwise face barriers to healthcare access. A substantial portion of MCHC's patients live at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level, with many more living below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Despite these challenges, the Health Center remains a trusted healthcare provider, delivering care to more than 9,200 individuals through over 40,000 patient visits each year. 3 MATTAPAN
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER
The Mattapanmunity experiences some of the most significant health disparities in Boston, including higher rates of chronic disease, behavioral health challenges, and social determinants of health that negatively impact health oues. MCHC plays a critical role in addressing these disparities by providing high-quality primary care, preventive services, care coordination, andmunity-based support programs designed to improve health oues and advance health equity for the populations it serves. Operating from a modern, 58,000 square foot facility constructed in 2012, MCHC providesprehensive, patient-centered primary care services to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. MCHC offers a broad range of clinical services, including Adult Medicine, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine, Family Medicine, Women's Health, Laboratory Services, Dental and Nutrition Services. Through an integrated care model, the Health Center addresses the preventive, acute, and chronic healthcare needs of patients across all stages of life. In addition to its clinical programs, MCHC provides an extensive array of public health initiatives, support services, andmunity-based programs designed to improve health oues and address social determinants of health. These services include Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening, Diabetes Education and Management, Family Planning, Financial Counseling, Health Education and Screening Programs, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing, Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services, a School-Based Health Center, and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services. 4 MATTAPAN
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER'S NEXT PRESIDENT AND CEO
The CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors and is responsible for: Providing overall vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the health center. Ensuring theanization's mission is successfully carried out. Overseeing the administrative and clinical leadership teams and management of the health center through employees. Developing and implementing policies, procedures, strategic plans, budgets, goals, andanizational objectives. Serving as the primary external representative of the health center. Participating on boards andmunity initiatives, including the Boston Accountable Care Organization. Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders. ing Structure The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors. RESPONSIBILITIES
Health Planning Leads the development and implementation of the health center's short- and long-term strategic plans, annual operating budget, business plan, and health plan in collaboration with the Board of Directors, leadership team, and staff. Oversees fundraising initiatives and grant development efforts to secure sustainable financial resources and supportanizational growth, working closely with the Board, leadership team, and staff. Ensures the development and execution of annual and long-term quality improvement and risk management plans for MCHC, including risk assessment, quality assurance, Board development, workforce and leadership development, and the achievement of clinical andanizational performance goals in partnership with the Board, Chief Medical Officer, and staff. Maintains a transparent, collaborative, and effective relationship with the Board of Directors, ensuring timelymunication, strongernance practices, and alignment with the health center's mission and strategic objectives. Staff, Policy, and Program Development Develops and implements recruitment and retention strategies that support the growth and sustainability of the health center, with an emphasis on attracting, developing, and retaining culturallypetent leaders and staff who reflect the diversity of themunities served, in collaboration with the Senior Executive Team. Oversees the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of allanizational policies and procedures, ensuring regular review, evaluation, and revision to support operational effectiveness and regulatorypliance. Ensuresanizationalpliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and funding requirements, and oversees the implementation of policies, procedures, and programs necessary to maintainpliance. Directs the preparation and submission of grant applications and renewals, including the Section 330 Public Health Service Grant, and ensures adnce to Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) program requirements and reporting obligations. Monitorsanizationalpliance with grant, programmatic, and fiscal requirements, ensuring the accurate and timely submission of all required reports to funding agencies and regulatory bodies. 6 Organization and Implementation Provides overall leadership and accountability for the implementation and execution of health center operations and strategic initiatives through the effective oversight and direction of management staff. Oversees the financial operations of the health center, including budget performance, financial controls, cash flow management, and the review of external audits to ensure fiscal integrity andanizational sustainability. Provides oversight of quality improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and guiding staff in achieving clinical, operational, andanizational performance goals. Reviews and analyzes key performance indicators, including clinical, dental, and behavioral health productivity, patient satisfaction, quality oues, and financial performance, and provides leadership in developing and implementing corrective action plans and strategic objectives based on data-driven assessments. Serves as the authorized representative of the health center in the negotiation, execution, and approval of contracts, agreements, and partnerships with externalanizations, vendors, and stakeholders. Provides strategic leadership and direction in response to emerging needs, operational challenges, crises, and internal and external events affecting the health center, ensuringanizational resilience and continuity of services. Leads business development efforts to expand access to care, strengthen service delivery, and identify opportunities foranizational growth, including the planning and implementation of internal and external expansion initiatives. Collaborates with development teams on capital planning, infrastructure improvements, and construction projects. Public Relations, Community Relations, Health Environment Serves as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the health center, representing theanization to patients,munity stakeholders,ernment agencies, elected officials, healthcare partners, and the public. Monitors and analyzes national, regional, and local healthcare trends, policy developments, and emerging issues, providing strategic guidance to theanization and ensuring proactive planning and adaptation to changes in the healthcare environment. Advocates for equitable access to affordable, high-quality, andprehensive healthcare services. Promotes public awareness and understanding of the health center's mission, services, programs, and impact throughmunity engagement, outreach, and strategic partnerships. Actively participates inmunity, civic, professional, and healthcare-relatedanizations and activities that strengthen relationships, enhance the health center's visibility, and advance the interests of theanization and its patients. Contributes to the development and advancement of public health and healthcare policy at the local, state, regional, and national levels, as appropriate, to support the mission, goals, and advocacy priorities of the health center and themunities it serves. 7 THE
CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will be a mission-driven healthcare executive with a demonstratedmitment to advancing health equity and improving access to high-quality care. The next CEO will bring a proven record ofanizational leadership, operational excellence, and sustainable growth, along with a deep appreciation for the critical rolemunity health centers play in strengthening the health and well-being of theirmunities. The ideal candidate will possess at least six years of senior leadership experience within a healthcareanization, preferably in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), ambulatory care, primary care, not-for-profit healthcare, or human services environment. Experience leadingplex healthcareanizations and navigating the regulatory, financial, and operational requirements of an FQHC is strongly preferred. The CEO must demonstrate substantial expertise inanizational leadership, strategic planning, and fiscal management. A strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement, revenue cycle management, value-based care, and the federal and state regulationserningmunity health centers will be important to theanization's continued success. As the public face of Mattapan Community Health Center, the CEO will be a visible, accessible, and inspiring leader who effectively represents theanization with patients, employees,munity partners,ernment officials, funders, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess exceptionalmunication and presentation skills, coupled with a diplomatic, transparent, and collaborative leadership style. The next CEO will excel at building relationships, fostering trust, and engaging diverse constituencies. They will have emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and patience necessary to lead within a highly collaborative culture that values teamwork, inclusiveness, and d decision-making. Above all, the successful candidate will be apassionate and authentic leader who embraces MCHC's mission and ismitted to ensuring its continued impact and long-term sustainability. 8 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Master's degree in health policy, planning and administration or a related field. (MPH, MPA, MBA, or MSW preferred). Experience developing and successfully executing sound strategic and business plans. Working kledge of significant developments and trends currently taking place in themunity health center movement. Understanding relevant requirements of federally qualified health centers. Familiarity with accountable care and/or value-based care. Experience and kledge working with a highly diverse workforce and patient population. OF SUCCESS
The success of the new CEO during their first year will be evaluated through several keyanizational, financial, and leadership oues, including: Building strong relationships with the Board of Directors, employees, patients,munity stakeholders, and external partners to advance theanization's strategic priorities. Achieving measurable financial improvement, through improved reimbursement, enhanced revenue cycle management, strategic growth initiatives, and the development of new revenue streams. Maintaining a strong financial position, including preserving unrestricted cash reserves at or above $3 million. Identifying and pursuing strategic partnerships, funding opportunities and operational efficiencies that support the Health Center's long-term sustainability and mission. Retaining and engaging senior leaders and key members of management teams while fostering a positiveanizational culture. Ensuring continued delivery of high-quality, accessible care while balancing financial stewardship with MCHC'smitment to serving vulnerable and underserved populations. 10 COMPENSATION Mattapan Community Health Center offers apetitivepensation package for employees. The salary for this role is anticipated to range from $250,000-$300,000,mensurate with experience. Sign-on bonus and relocation support may be available.
