(BIA) EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Executive Officer (EO) serves as chief executive and administrative leader of the BIA and is responsible for executing the mission, vision, and goals as set forth by the Board of Directors. The EO oversees all aspects of the organization's operations, membership, advocacy efforts, financial stewardship, event planning, staff leadership and external partnership. The EO recommends, and participates in formulation of new policies and makes decisions within the bounds of existing policies. The EO acts as a key liaison between the building industry and government officials, stakeholders, and the broader community. Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities:
Key strategic leadership and governance of the role of the EO is to collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan that ensures all strategies and initiatives reflect and reinforce the BIA's current mission. The EO must be able to develop and manage a work plan that includes budget allocations, a timeline of tasks with task owners clearly identified (board, committee, staff), and a communication component to keep stakeholders informed and engaged. Informs Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Officers on conditions and operations of the association Attends all meetings of Board of Directors and Executive Committee and works with other committees as established by the bylaws to ensure goals are met Be a member of Board of Directors and Executive Committee ex-officio , without the right to vote Maintains the assets of the association and investments In accordance with established policies Plans, formulates, and recommends to Board of Directors programs which will further the strategic and financial goals of the organization Provides minutes, agendas and reports for Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings and any supporting items as requested by other committees Executes all decisions of Board of Directors except in cases when assignments are made specifically by the Board Manages operations of association and develops specific administrative policies and procedures for the association Is charged with the administration of all BIA events with oversight of staff and as a partner with the committee Recruits, hires, trains, and motivates association staff including establishing performance standards and goals and evaluates staff Directs and coordinates all approved programs, projects, and major activities of staff Serve as staff liaison to all committees and/or provides liaison between the committees and the Board of Directors including staff support to committees to enable them to perform assigned functions Executes such contracts and commitments as authorized by Board of Directors or established policies Develops and recommends an annual budget in cooperation with the Treasurer and Finance Committee and operates within the confines of established guidelines Ensures that all funds, physical assets, and other property owned by the association are appropriately safeguarded Plans, coordinates, and conducts a public relations program to enhance public acceptance of the industry Serves as Executive Editor of official publications Promotes interest and active participation to members in association's activities Develops education programs to advance professional skills of the members, operating within budget and program objectives Plans, organizes, and directs membership promotion and retention programs Plans and executes all communications to the membership Acts as a liaison with OHBA and NAHB, attending official meetings and Executive Officers Meetings Safeguards confidential Information as It applies to the daily functions of the association and members Fulfills such other general responsibilities as may be delegated by the Officers and Board of Directors Relationships Maintain effective relationships with public and private organizations to ensure the interests of the association are realized Maintain personal contacts with membership to the greatest degree possible Maintain such relationships with other associations, industry, government, public service organizations, and vendors as are desirable or necessary in the best interests of the association Establishes such relationships as the Board of Directors may specify or as may deem advisable in the best interests of the association but in conformity with established policy Industry standards development will be a constant responsibility as new codes, products, and building and remodeling techniques are introduced to the industry Be the liaison with agencies of governing bodies affecting the home building and remodeling industry Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, public policy, communications or related field (Master's degree preferred) Five or more years of leadership experience, preferably in association management, nonprofit leadership and knowledge of the building industry Strong understanding of policy, government relations, and industry regulations and a proven track record of fiscal management Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and engage diverse stakeholders Excellent communication, public speaking and relationship building skills Experience working with a Board of Directors and knowledge of governance best practices CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation a plus Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience and guided by NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) industry survey•base salary range $130,000•150,000 Bonus potential for metrics achieved as a percentage of salary est. up to 20% Cell phone reimbursement Car or fuel allowance Health insurance stipend 401K match Paid time off Flexible scheduling of days in office/remote Interested parties submit cover letter and resume to the HR Task Force at Pay:
