We live our mission by collaborating with national, state, and local partners to develop innovative, community-based strategies that improve oral health outcomes and achieve meaningful, lasting results. Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic, visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the Center for Oral Health. Serving as the primary face of the organization, the CEO represents COH to government agencies, community partners, and the general public. This is a strategic, part-time leadership role. The CEO will develop strategic plans, provide operational oversight, and explore funding opportunities for new initiatives to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of COH's programs. To support execution, the CEO collaborates with dedicated HR and finance consultants to ensure effective human resource functions and sound financial management.
Essential Job Functions Strategic Leadership:
Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values. Identify emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in public oral health.
Program Development & Management:
Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs addressing oral health disparities. Collaborate with staff, partners, and stakeholders to deploy innovative interventions.
Fundraising & Resource Development:
Lead efforts to secure and diversify financial support. Cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners to expand funding via grants, donations, and sponsorships.
Advocacy & Policy Engagement:
Represent COH in advocacy efforts to advance oral health equity. Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers and government agencies to influence systemic change at local, state, and national levels.
Communication & Public Relations:
Serve as the primary spokesperson. Refine and utilize web, media relations, social media, and public speaking to elevate COH's brand as a mission-driven, reputable leader in the field.
Organizational Management:
Provide effective leadership, mentorship, and management to staff, volunteers, and consultants, fostering a collaborative, inclusive work environment.
Finance & Board Governance:
Oversee budgeting, financial management, and regulatory compliance. Work closely with the Board to ensure transparency, providing regular updates and data-driven recommendations to facilitate informed decision-making.
Required Skills and Experience Senior Leadership:
At least 10 years of senior healthcare management experience, with a proven track record of effective leadership regionally and/or nationally (preferably in public health, oral health, or non-profit healthcare systems).
Mission Domain Expertise:
Strong understanding of oral health issues, disparities, and the specific challenges facing underserved and vulnerable communities.
Financial & Grant Acumen:
Proven experience managing budgets, fiscal oversight, and compliance for public/private grants.
Strategy & Evaluation:
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, quality improvement programs, and data-driven program evaluation.
Exceptional Communication:
Outstanding interpersonal, writing, and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders (donors, policymakers, community members). Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of dental billing practices, processes, and compliance. Past success working closely with a Board of Directors and cultivating board member relationships. Strong skillset in leading development activities, direct fundraising, and grant writing.
