Washington, DC (Regional Mid‑Atlantic Focus) Position Summary The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of the Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce (GWBCC). The CEO is responsible for overall strategic direction, operational management, financial oversight, membership growth, partnership development, and advocacy on behalf of Black‑owned businesses. The CEO ensures the organization's long‑term sustainability and regional impact, with Washington, DC as the primary area of focus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Board Governance Implement the mission, vision, and strategic priorities established by the Board of Directors. Provide accurate, timely reports and recommendations to support Board decision‑making. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, bylaws, and governance standards. 2. Membership Development Develop and execute strategies to increase membership recruitment and retention. Enhance member value through programs, services, and engagement opportunities. Maintain systems to monitor member satisfaction and outcomes. 3. Advocacy & Government Engagement Serve as the Chamber's primary representative to DC government, regional agencies, and federal partners. Develop and advance an advocacy agenda aligned with the needs of Black‑owned businesses. Participate in hearings, coalitions, task forces, and public forums. 4. Partnership Development & External Relations Establish and maintain partnerships with corporations, nonprofits, foundations, universities, and regional business organizations. Represent GWBCC in media engagements and public events. Strengthen the Chamber's brand and visibility across the Mid‑Atlantic region. 5. Fundraising & Resource Development Lead all fundraising activities, including sponsorships, grants, donor relations, and special events. Identify and develop new revenue opportunities to support organizational growth. Maintain strong relationships with funders and partners. 6. Financial Management Ensure fiscal integrity through effective budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance. Manage the organization within approved budgets and maintain a positive financial position. Oversee financial planning, forecasting, and resource allocation. 7. Organizational Operations & Staff Management Oversee daily operations, program implementation, and administrative functions. Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and retain qualified staff and contractors. Approve contracts, agreements, and commitments on behalf of the organization. Maintain efficient operational systems, policies, and procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred Minimum five years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit, chamber of commerce, business association, or related field Demonstrated experience in fundraising, partnership development, and government relations Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and reporting Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills Ability to engage diverse stakeholders and lead collaborative teams High integrity, professionalism, and commitment to the mission of supporting Black‑owned businesses Compensation The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
