Job Description
Position Summary:
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Administrator serves as the senior executive leader of Scott County Community Hospital d/b/a/ Big South Fork Medical Center, a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH). The CEO/Administrator is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, and financial performance of the hospital. The position leads with a commitment to high-quality patient care, community engagement, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability in a rural healthcare setting. Other duties may be assigned to meet the strategic goals of the Company and its operations. ) : Leadership & Strategy- Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic plans in collaboration with the Advisory Board of Directors.
- Provide visionary leadership in a rural health environment, adapting to changing healthcare landscapes.
- Identifies and evaluates new lines of service to advance hospital growth and community impact.
- Foster an organizational culture of quality, safety, and service excellence. Operations Management
- Responsible for daily operations of the hospital and related outpatient services, ensuring high-quality patient care and staff performance.
- Ensure compliance with Critical Access Hospital regulations (CMS Conditions of Participation, Medicare guidelines, state licensure, etc.).
- Monitor hospital performance metrics and implement improvements as needed. Financial Oversight
- Develop and manage hospital operating and capital budgets, financial performance and revenue cycle operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to maintain financial viability, including CAH-specific reimbursement models (e.g., cost-based reimbursement).
- Pursue grant funding, partnerships, and new service lines to enhance sustainability. Human Resources & Talent Development
- Recruit, retain and mentor a high performing team including both clinical and non-clinical staff. Community & Stakeholder Relations
- Identify and promote community outreach programs improving access to care. Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Ensure accreditation standards (as applicable) and regulatory compliance (e.
DNV, CMS, state and federal regulators).
- Oversee quality improvement initiatives and patient satisfaction programs.
- Maintain a robust emergency preparedness and risk management program in coordination with the appropriate local and state entities. Qualifications
- Masters prepared (preferred) or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field
- Minimum 5-7 years of healthcare leadership experience, ideally in a rural or CAH setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced clinical and administrative setting.
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills to drive organizational growth, financial health, and community engagement.
- Proficiency in healthcare operations, including regulatory compliance, HIPAA standards, medical terminology, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Solid grasp of financial management, including budgeting, capital planning, and payer mix analysis.
- Proven ability to manage internal controls, risk management, and regulatory audits.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with staff, providers, advisory board members, and the broader community.
- Familiarity with health information systems, medical technology platforms, and data-driven performance metrics.
Work Environment:
- Rural hospital setting with 24/7 operational oversight.
- On-site leadership presence required; some travel may be necessary for conferences or affiliations.
