We are committed to delivering high-quality, compliant, and client-centered care while expanding access to essential services across Virginia. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to oversee and lead all aspects of organizational operations, growth, compliance, and clinical excellence. Position Overview The CEO will serve as the senior executive leader responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, regulatory compliance, and financial performance of the organization. This individual will oversee multiple programs, departments, and leadership staff while ensuring adherence to DBHDS and DMAS regulations. This role requires a strong clinical and business leader who can balance operational efficiency, compliance, staff development, and organizational growth. Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive Leadership & Strategy Provide overall leadership and direction for all organizational operations and service lines Develop and implement strategic growth plans, including expansion of programs and services Ensure alignment of organizational goals with regulatory requirements and industry best practices Operations Management Oversee daily operations across all programs (ASAM levels, MHSS, Community Stabilization, PHP, etc.) Supervise and support executive leadership, program directors, and department heads Ensure efficient utilization of resources, staffing, and service delivery Regulatory Compliance Maintain full compliance with Virginia DBHDS and DMAS regulations Ensure audit readiness and successful outcomes for licensing, audits, and accreditation (e.g., CARF, Joint Commission) Oversee policy development and implementation aligned with state and federal requirements Financial Oversight Monitor financial performance, budgeting, and revenue cycle operations Collaborate with billing and authorization teams to ensure financial sustainability Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency Staff Leadership & Development Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing leadership team Establish accountability structures and performance expectations across departments Promote a positive, compliant, and mission-driven organizational culture Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as the primary representative of the organization with stakeholders, partners, and regulatory bodies Maintain strong written and verbal communication across all levels of the organization Lead internal and external communications, including reports, policies, and strategic initiatives QualificationsRequired Active Virginia licensure as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) Minimum 5+ years of executive or senior-level management experience in behavioral health Extensive experience in mental health and substance use treatment services Strong working knowledge of: DBHDS regulations DMAS requirements and Medicaid billing frameworks Proven ability to manage multiple programs, departments, and multidisciplinary teams Demonstrated success in organizational leadership, growth, and operational oversight Skills & Competencies Exceptional leadership and decision-making abilities Strong organizational and project management skills Advanced written and verbal communication skills Ability to navigate complex regulatory and operational environments Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability Preferred Qualifications Experience leading multi-site behavioral health organizations Experience with accreditation processes (CARF, Joint Commission, COA) Background in program development and expansion Familiarity with utilization management, authorizations, and payer relations Compensation & Benefits Competitive executive salary (commensurate with experience) Performance-based incentives Opportunities for professional growth and leadership impact Supportive and mission-driven organizational culture
