  • $140,000 a year 21 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Strategic management Operations management Performance management Team development Fundraising Senior leadership Full Job Description Position Summary The Executive Director / CEO is responsible for overall organizational leadership, financial performance, and strategic direction of the Youth Marine Foundation.
This role leads execution of a clearly defined organizational strategy and oversees a stable, high-performing operating model that integrates maritime education, workforce development, and earned revenue from organizational assets to deliver consistent financial and programmatic results. The Executive Director serves as the primary leader of the organization, accountable for P&L performance, program outcomes, and external partnerships, while working closely with the Board of Directors to define long-term direction and impact. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Organizational Direction
  • Lead development and execution of a clear, actionable strategic plan aligned with mission and market opportunity
  • Define organizational priorities and ensure alignment of programs, staffing, and resources
  • Guide evolution of the organization's model across maritime education, workforce development, and revenue-generating activities 2. Financial Management & Revenue Strategy
  • Own full organizational financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
  • Develop and manage a diversified revenue model, including workforce contracts, earned revenue, and philanthropy
  • Improve revenue predictability and reduce reliance on any single funding source 3. Program Leadership & Impact
  • Oversee delivery of all programs to ensure measurable outcomes and alignment with funding requirements
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and make decisions to scale, refine, or exit programs
  • Ensure integration between workforce programming and maritime training assets 4. Operations & Asset Utilization
  • Oversee operations of all organizational assets, including vessels, facilities, and waterfront infrastructure
  • Improve utilization of assets to support both mission impact and earned revenue generation
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency 5. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing, accountable team with clear ownership of outcomes
  • Align staffing structure with strategic priorities and revenue streams
  • Recruit, develop, and retain key personnel; implement performance management systems 6. External Relations & Partnerships
  • Serve as primary representative to funders, public agencies, industry partners, and community stakeholders
  • Develop partnerships that expand program reach, funding opportunities, and workforce pathways
  • Position the organization as a leader in maritime workforce development and youth engagement 7. Board Engagement & Governance
  • Partner with the Board of Directors to define strategy and ensure organizational accountability
  • Provide clear, data-driven reporting on financial performance, program outcomes, and strategic progress
  • Maintain appropriate separation between governance and day-to-day operations Qualifications & Experience
  • 7-10+ years of senior leadership experience with P&L or operational accountability
  • Experience managing complex organizations with multiple revenue streams
  • Demonstrated ability to build or scale programs, partnerships, or business lines
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and revenue strategy
  • Experience working with boards, public agencies, or regulated environments preferred
  • Background in workforce development, maritime, education, or related sectors is a plus Leadership Profile
  • Strategic and decisive; able to bring clarity in ambiguous environments
  • Results-oriented with a focus on execution and accountability
  • Comfortable making difficult decisions to align resources with priorities
  • Strong communicator across diverse stakeholders
  • Mission-driven with a pragmatic, operational mindset Compensation
  • Salary range: $110,000
  • $140,000 (flexible based on experience and scope)
  • Interim structure and performance-based incentives may be considered
