Job Description
Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, the Executive Director of the Speer YMCA provides strategic and operational leadership for one of the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg's flagship branches. This position is responsible for all aspects of branch operations, including membership, programs, staff leadership, financial management, community engagement, volunteer development, and fundraising. The Executive Director also serves as a key partner with Mangrove Bay Middle School in supporting the successful operation of this unique shared-use facility and 19-acre campus. This role requires a collaborative leader who can build strong relationships, lead high-performing teams, and drive innovative programs and community impact. The ideal candidate will have experience leading complex operations, managing community partnerships, and creating a strong culture focused on member experience, staff engagement, and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Recreation, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership and supervisory experience in operations, program management, or nonprofit leadership. Previous YMCA leadership experience strongly preferred. Branch Executive or multi-department leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated experience leading complex operations and managing multiple program areas, including aquatics, wellness, youth programs, sports, camps, and community partnerships. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and operational oversight. Proven success in staff leadership, team development, and employee engagement. Experience in fundraising, volunteer development, and community relationship management. Ability to build strong collaborative partnerships and effectively work with community stakeholders, school partners, volunteers, and civic leaders.
