Job Description
Operations Director (COO) — Trucking & Logistics Green Group Leasing LLC | Chicago, IL ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ About Us Green Group is a growing asset-holding trucking and logistics platform operating 150+ company-owned dry van trucks across multiple carrier entities. We're in a phase of rapid operational maturation — building the systems, controls, and leadership team to scale from 150 to 300+ trucks. Our operations span the continental US with a distributed support team in Tashkent, Uzbekistan handling dispatch and fuel management. We're looking for an Operations Director who thinks like an owner. Someone who sees a $340K/month fleet expense line and immediately starts asking which vendors are overcharging, which repairs were preventable, and which drivers aren't doing their pre-trip inspections. If you've built operational discipline in a growing fleet — not just maintained it in a stable one — this role is for you. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ What You'll Own This is full P&L ownership of fleet operations. You report directly to the CEO/CFO and lead cross-functional teams across the US and Uzbekistan. Fleet & Maintenance Operations ‣ Full lifecycle management of 150+ trucks: acquisition, utilization, maintenance, and disposition ‣ Own the fleet expense budget ($200K/month target) with approval authority over all repair payments ‣ Lead preventive vs reactive maintenance strategy — reduce roadside breakdowns and emergency towing costs ‣ Drive repair-vs-replace-vs-sell decisions based on unit economics and truck age ‣ Manage vendor relationships: negotiate fleet rates, build a preferred vendor network, eliminate overspend ‣ Ensure
DOT/FMCSA
compliance: inspections, audits, safety standards, CSA score management Dispatch & Operational Execution ‣ Lead and align the Tashkent-based dispatch team to ensure realistic load planning and on-time execution ‣ Eliminate operational waste: unrealistic mileage targets, false status updates, missed pickups ‣ Build dispatcher KPIs tied to execution quality, revenue per truck, and miles per driver ‣ Coordinate seasonal planning: weather risks, lane shifts, regional capacity changes Fuel Strategy & Cost Optimization ‣ Own fleet-wide fuel strategy: network optimization, route-based fueling plans, preferred stop programs ‣ Reduce fuel cost per mile by aligning driver purchasing behavior with the company's CPM framework ‣ Monitor driver fuel purchasing against EIA national average benchmarks ‣ Coordinate with dispatch to minimize deadhead miles and optimize fuel stop planning Financial Performance & Controls ‣ Own operationalP&L:
cost per mile, fleet utilization, repair costs, fuel efficiency, revenue per truck ‣ Lead the monthly fleet expense review with CEO/CFO and Finance ‣ Enforce the fleet expense approval matrix: money code caps, credit card controls, wire transfer authorization ‣ Track and recover driver-chargeable expenses through the investigation and payroll deduction process ‣ Build and maintain KPI dashboards: downtime, incident cost, driver performance, fleet health Strategy & Scaling ‣ Develop and execute the growth plan from 150 to 300+ trucks ‣ Evaluate expansion models: leasing vs purchasing, new lanes, broker and shipper partnerships ‣ Build scalable processes that work across US and offshore teams ‣ Drive automation and system improvements (Samsara, TMS, ELD platforms, Monday.com) Leadership & Team Development ‣ Lead cross-functional international teams across US and Uzbekistan ‣ Develop middle management: dispatch leads, fleet supervisors, yard managers ‣ Partner with HR on the driver compensation framework (performance-based CPM model) ‣ Coordinate with Safety Manager on accident investigations, violations, and risk reduction ‣ Build a culture of accountability, transparency, and data-driven decision making ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ What Success Looks Like in Year One ‣ Fleet expenses consistently at or below $200K/month (down from $340K+ current average) ‣ 100% of fleet repairs have work orders and proper documentation ‣ 90%+ fleet utilization (trucks with active drivers) ‣ Average driver tenure exceeds 9 months ‣ Cost per mile reduced by 15%+ through vendor consolidation, preventive maintenance, and fuel optimization ‣ Monthly KPI reporting cadence established and running on autopilot ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Requirements Must have: ‣ 5+ years in trucking or logistics operations ‣ Proven experience managing fleet operations (100+ trucks) ‣ Strong understanding ofDOT/FMCSA
regulations ‣ P&L ownership experience with demonstrated cost reduction results ‣ Experience leading distributed or international teams ‣ Fluent English (business level) Strong plus: ‣ Russian or Uzbek language skills (for coordination with offshore teams) ‣ Experience managing dispatch operations ‣ Fuel optimization and procurement strategy experience ‣ Experience scaling a fleet during a growth phase (not just maintaining a stable operation) Nice to have: ‣ CDL or deep understanding of driver day-to-day workflows ‣ Experience with owner-operator or lease-to-own models ‣ Knowledge of the truck/trailer secondary market ‣ Hands-on experience with Samsara, ELD platforms, TMS, or fleet management software ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Compensation ‣ Competitive base salary (commensurate with experience) ‣ Performance bonus tied to fleet utilization, cost per mile, and operational KPIs ‣ Direct report to CEO/CFO with real decision-making authority ‣ Opportunity to build and lead operations through a significant scaling phase ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Location Ashland, VA (company office relocating to Chicago, IL area). This is an on-site leadership role — not remote. Some travel required for yard visits, vendor meetings, and team coordination. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Green Group Leasing LLC is an equal opportunity employer.Pay:
