ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We are a growing operator in the door and building products space, seeking a General Manager to lead full business operations across our Chicago and St. Louis markets. This is a high-ownership role built for someone who thrives in an environment where they can shape strategy, drive performance, and build lasting operational infrastructure. Whether your background is in home services, building materials distribution, construction trades, or broader operations leadership•if you've run a P&L, scaled a team, or built systems that stick, we want to hear from you. The right candidate brings a bias for action, sharp business instincts, and the hunger to treat this business like their own.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Full P&L ownership across a portfolio of acquired door and building products business units, with accountability up to $50M in revenue and $5-10M in EBITDA Drive top-line revenue growth with the support of central marketing•executing demand generation strategies tailored to both the construction trades and retail consumers Lead operational performance optimization: costs, quality, inventory, workforce, and capital expenditure Establish and own annual budgets and forecasts•then hold yourself and the team accountable to hitting them Build scalable processes and systems that can support rapid portfolio expansion across new business units Work hand-in-hand with acquired business founders to align on strategy, maintain culture, and accelerate growth Formulate and execute marketing strategies; audit results and iterate continuously Direct and align policies and procedures across all personnel; ensure consistent implementation at every level Establish and maintain procedures for inbound/outbound shipments, merchandise handling, and inventory management Monitor operational requirements including facility workforce needs and capital expenditure proposals Uphold all company and regulatory safety standards; ensure hazardous conditions are promptly reported and corrected
WHO YOU ARE 3-8
years of progressive experience, with a strong operations background•home services or building products experience is a meaningful plus Hungry, high-horsepower, and eager to own a
P&L:
you want accountability and you thrive under it Proven ability to build and scale operational systems•either through direct experience or clear aptitude and initiative Comfortable working in a multi-site, multi-entity environment with multiple stakeholders and founders Sharp financial acumen: you understand how revenue, costs, and margins connect, and you can build and defend a budget A collaborative, hands-on leader who can earn trust from acquired founders while driving meaningful change Strong communicator who can align teams, set clear direction, and cascade accountability at every level
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related field•or equivalent professional experience Foundational knowledge across finance, economics, accounting, personnel management, and sales 2+ years in sales management or a closely related management function 3+ years in a supervisory or senior management capacity with direct reports Familiarity with the construction trades, building materials distribution, or home services industries preferred
