Job Description

About MAAK Impact MAAK Impact is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs and building a thriving, sustainable economy within the Kakuma refugee camp. We bridge the gap between US-based capital and high-potential, on-the-ground opportunities in Kenya. We aren't a traditional non-profit; we operate at the intersection of impact and investment, driving real economic development through targeted investments, resource access, and strategic partnerships. The Role We are looking for a highly entrepreneurial, self-directed leader to drive our operations and investment strategy. This is not a standard 9-to-5 desk job. You will be the crucial link between our US donor network and our active investments in Kenya. The ideal candidate is a builder who thrives in autonomy. You will manage multiple concurrent investments across Kenya, cultivate deep relationships with US donors, and play a direct role in shaping the Kakuma refugee economy. Furthermore, we want you to build your own upside: you will have the unique opportunity to generate personal financial upside by organizing, running, and scaling investor trips to Kakuma.
Key Responsibilities Drive Strategic Operations:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of MAAK Impact, ensuring efficient deployment of resources and alignment with our mission to build the Kakuma economy.
Donor & Investor Relations:
Actively navigate, manage, and expand relationships with US-based donors and investors. You will be the face of our impact, communicating updates, pitching opportunities, and securing funding.
Investment Portfolio Management:
Concurrently manage, monitor, and support multiple investments and entrepreneurial projects across Kenya, ensuring accountability and measurable impact.
Create Your Own Upside:
Design, market, and lead on-the-ground investor trips to Kakuma and our Kenyan project sites. You will build and capture the financial upside of these trips, creating a self-sustaining revenue channel for yourself and the organization.
Ecosystem Building:
Work directly with local partners to identify and support high-potential entrepreneurs within the Kakuma refugee camp, removing barriers to their success.
Qualifications Highly Entrepreneurial:
You have a builder's mindset and a track record of taking initiative. You see opportunities where others see roadblocks.
Fiercely Independent:
You are completely self-directed (no hand-holding required) and highly capable of managing complex projects across different time zones and cultures.
Investment/Operations Experience:
Proven experience in managing investments, venture operations, real estate, or complex non-profit operations. Familiarity with the Kenyan market is a massive plus.
Exceptional Communicator:
Ability to code-switch seamlessly between pitching high-net-worth US donors and collaborating with local entrepreneurs in Kenya.
Logistical Expertise:
Experience organizing events, delegations, or complex international travel is highly preferred. Why Join Us? This role is built for a self-starter who wants to make a massive, tangible impact while building their own professional and financial footprint. If you are ready to hustle, manage real investments, and build a lasting economic engine in Kakuma, we want to hear from you.
Pay:
$55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
Benefits:
Flexible schedule
Work Location:
Hybrid remote in Salt Lake City, UT 84116
