POSITION SUMMARY
The Division President is the senior operating executive for El Rancho Stores, responsible for setting and executing the division's strategic direction to deliver sustainable growth, operational excellence, and strong financial performance. This role leads all aspects of division operations and ensures alignment with company objectives, customer expectations, and brand standards. The Division President provides executive leadership to regional and field operations teams, including Regional Vice Presidents of Operations, District Managers, Store Directors, and other division leaders. The role is accountable for building organizational capability, developing leadership bench strength, driving accountability, and fostering a high-performance culture that delivers outstanding customer experience, team member engagement, compliance, and profitability. The Division President is expected to model the company's values while leading transformation, continuous improvement, and disciplined execution across the division. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Operational Excellence:
Leads the execution of division strategy and translates enterprise goals into actionable operating plans across all stores and regions. Presents operational performance, strategic priorities, and business results to executive leadership and, when appropriate, the Board of Directors. Drives operational excellence across the division, ensuring consistent execution of company standards for quality, cleanliness, service, safety, food safety, sanitation, and store conditions. Provides strategic direction to regional operations leadership by connecting performance metrics to business processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensures division operations comply with company policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including safety, labor, health, and workers' compensation requirements. Maintains a visible field presence through regular market and store visits to assess execution, identify opportunities, and reinforce accountability. Champions change management and operational innovation to strengthen performance, scalability, and competitive advantage. Team Member Development:
Builds and sustains a culture of high performance, accountability, inclusion, and engagement across the division. Sets clear expectations for division leaders and provides ongoing coaching, feedback, succession planning, and development to strengthen leadership capability at all levels. Partners with Human Resources and business leaders to improve retention, strengthen employee relations, and align talent strategies with business priorities. Develops a strong leadership bench by identifying high-potential talent and creating opportunities for growth, readiness, and promotion. Customer Service:
Champions a customer-first culture that delivers a welcoming, consistent, and differentiated shopping experience across all locations. Leads by example in service excellence and ensures store teams are equipped to meet customer expectations in every department. Develops and supports initiatives that improve service levels, store conditions, and team friendliness while strengthening customer loyalty. Drives improvements in service speed, execution, and responsiveness to enhance the overall customer experience. Leadership & Management Skills Demonstrated executive leadership presence with the ability to inspire, influence, and align teams around strategy, priorities, and results. Owns division P&L performance and is accountable for achieving sales, margin, EBITDA, labor, shrink, and expense objectives. Leads performance analysis and uses financial and operational data to identify trends, close gaps, and improve business results. Develops operating budgets, forecasts, and action plans that support profitable growth and disciplined cost management. Partners with regional and cross-functional leaders to improve productivity, reduce shrink, manage payroll, and optimize store-level contribution. Monitors capital, maintenance, and operating expenditures to ensure resources are deployed effectively and in line with business priorities. Ensures stores maintain facilities, fixtures, equipment, and assets in safe, reliable, and cost-effective operating condition. Monitors market conditions, competitive activity, and growth opportunities, and makes recommendations that strengthen the division's performance and long-term position. Promotes a strong safety culture and ensures consistent compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company standards across the division. Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and executive-level retail operations experience. 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in grocery, retail, or multi-unit operations, including significant responsibility for large-scale field organizations. Proven success leading senior operations teams and delivering strong results in sales growth, profitability, labor management, shrink control, and customer experience. Deep knowledge of retail operations, merchandising execution, financial planning, budgeting, compliance, and operational performance metrics. Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced, evolving environment and to prioritize effectively across multiple business demands. Strong analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound, data-informed decisions. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to store teams, senior leaders, and executive stakeholders. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand both English and Spanish sufficiently to communicate effectively in a diverse operating environment. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to retail operations, employment practices, safety, and food handling. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business systems used for reporting, analysis, communication, and planning. Strong planning, organization, and follow-through skills, with the ability to lead through others and execute consistently at scale. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
