Job Description
The Opportunity A $3.3M Texas law firm. Four offices. A visionary founder at the bottleneck. One person can change that. The firm handles complex estate planning, real estate, oil & gas, litigation, and intellectual property across Central and East Texas — with an affiliated portfolio that includes a title company, a private lender, and a registered investment advisor. The firm is stable and established, but currently heavily dependent on the founder and managing attorney for execution. This role exists to change that equation. The COO will serve as the firm's Integrator within the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) — the operational and people leader responsible for aligning execution, accountability, and growth while allowing the founder to focus on vision, relationships, and scaling toward $10M+. This is an in-office position. Primary location is Cedar Park, TX (HQ), with regular travel to Jasper, Livingston, and Woodville offices. What You'll Own EOS Implementation Lead the full rollout of the Entrepreneurial Operating System — Scorecards, Level 10 Meetings, Quarterly Rocks, and the Accountability Chart. You are the Integrator responsible for operational clarity and execution discipline. Financial Performance Own firm-wide P&L across all offices and practice areas. Build and maintain financial dashboards, drive profitability, and improve revenue per attorney. AI & Tech Transformation Lead the firm's adoption of AI across intake, drafting, billing, and operations. The path to $15M includes operational leverage through automation — you will drive that transformation. People & Team Leadership Oversee attorneys and staff across four offices, as well as a remote international team. Build a structured, accountable, and increasingly self-managing organization. Experiences We Require Proven experience as a COO, General Manager, Integrator, or Law Firm Administrator in a multi-employee professional services environment Demonstrated implementation of EOS or a comparable operating system (Scaling Up, OKRs, etc.), or strong working knowledge and conviction toward EOS adoption Direct experience managing people across functions, including hiring, performance management, accountability, and separations when necessary Financial leadership experience with direct ownership or meaningful influence over P&L performance Hands-on experience using AI tools in real operational settings (not just awareness, but implementation) Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across attorneys, staff, and external stakeholders Highly self-directed, organized, and comfortable building structure in a fast-paced, evolving environment Experiences We Strongly Prefer Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment Familiarity with Clio, Lawmatics, or similar practice management/CRM systems Experience managing multi-location and/or distributed teams EOS Implementer certification or formal EOS training is a strong plus Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a related field; advanced degree or law firm management certification is advantageous Compensation Base salary ranges $100K to $175K, commensurate with depth of experience and demonstrated capability in similar operating environments (final compensation subject to attorney review and approval) Candidates with full alignment to the experience profile — particularly EOS implementation, P&L ownership, and multi-office leadership — will be considered at the top of the range Candidates who bring strong core capabilities but are still developing in certain areas may be considered at a lower base, with clear pathways for growth as scope of responsibility expands Annual performance bonus tied to revenue growth and net profit targets Health, vision, and dental insurance — 100% employer-paid for employee coverage (UnitedHealthcare) 401(k) plan with 3% employer contribution regardless of employee contribution Paid time off per firm policy Professional development budget for EOS training, AI tools/certifications, and leadership development Final Note This is not a maintenance role — it is a build role. The right person will step into complexity, impose structure, and drive measurable growth across people, process, and profit. We understand the importance of confidentiality when exploring new opportunities in the legal space. All inquiries will be handled with strict discretion.
