Role:
The Vice President of Flight Operations serves as the executive leader responsible for the safety, compliance, reliability, and strategic direction of JSX's Flight Operations organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this role oversees all pilot and inflight operational functions while ensuring the Director of Operations has the staffing, systems, and resources required to fulfill all regulatory responsibilities. This role requires a highly experienced aviation leader who can balance operational excellence, pilot development, safety oversight, commercial coordination, and organizational leadership in a fast-moving and rapidly growing environment. Life:
Your day will be highly strategic and operationally dynamic, centered around ensuring Flight Operations remains safe, compliant, efficient, and prepared to support JSX's continued growth.
Additional responsibilities include:
Provide executive leadership and strategic oversight for all Flight Operations functions, including pilot and inflight operations Partner closely with the Director of Operations to ensure regulatory compliance and operational readiness across the network Establish and maintain Flight Operations policies in collaboration with leadership teams including Legal, Finance, Corporate Soul, and Operations Oversee the full pilot production pipeline, including recruiting, hiring, training, deployment, upgrades, and professional development Coordinate with Commercial teams to ensure schedules are operationally feasible and aligned with pilot resources and regulatory requirements Manage Flight Operations budgets, operational planning, and resource allocation initiatives Support Mission Control and operational oversight rotations following certification by the Director of Operations Ensure Flight Operations teams are properly staffed, trained, and equipped to support safe daily operations Partner with Safety leadership to support ASAP, FOQA, SMS, and other safety reporting programs Lead operational readiness initiatives related to fleet growth, new aircraft introductions, technology upgrades, and network expansion Monitor operational performance, staffing forecasts, and pilot resource utilization to identify opportunities for improvement Provide executive leadership during operational disruptions, irregular operations, and high-priority safety or compliance events

Required Education & Experience:
Minimum 6 years of leadership experience in Part 121 or Part 135 operations, with 10 years preferred Must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with significant Part 121 or Part 135 operational experience Must pursue training and approval from the Director of Operations to serve in the operational oversight rotation In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations (14 CFR Parts 119, 135, 121, 91). Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-team flight operations departments. Proven experience in pilot workforce planning, production, and professional development. Knowledge of operational control systems, Crew Resource Management, and aviation safety systems. Familiarity with SMS frameworks (14 CFR Part 5), ASAP, and FOQA program administration. Strong budgeting, operational planning, and project management skills. Familiarity with flight planning software, EFBs, and dispatch tools. Effective coaching, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Aviation or a technically related field Previous experience serving as a Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, or equivalent Part 119 leadership role Experience supporting commercial schedule coordination and pilot resource optimization Experience managing check airman programs, training captain deployment, and pilot upgrade forecasting
Licenses & Certifications:
Meet the qualifications to serve as a Director of Operations per 14 CFR §119.69. Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted under Part 121 or Part 135; or In the case of a person becoming Director of Operations for the first time ever, have at least 10 years experience, within the past 2 years, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under Part 121 or Part 135 of this chapter. In the case of a person with previous experience as a Director of Operations, have at least 3 years experience, as pilot in command of an aircraft operated under Part 121 or Part 135.
Note:
Part 135 operational experience requirements pertain to large aircraft (MTOW of 12,500 lbs or greater).
Pay & Perks:
Compensation is $210,000 - $250,000 annually. This was established after performing market research and is aligned with our approach to compensation.
