University Health in San Antonio, Texas—home to a vibrant and culturally diverse community—is seeking two dynamic, mission-driven Associate Administrators to join the senior leadership teams at Palo Alto Community Hospital and Retama Community Hospital. These high-impact leadership roles are responsible for driving operational excellence, advancing patient care outcomes, and supporting strategic growth across our expanding system. Position Summary The Associate Administrator serves as a key executive partner to the Chief Executive Officer and plays a critical leadership role in hospital operations. This individual collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and department directors to ensure exceptional patient care delivery, efficient resource utilization, and optimal patient throughput. This role also leads strategic growth initiatives, including physician partnerships, service line development, and community engagement efforts, while championing a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership to drive hospital strategy, operations, and performance outcomes
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care delivery
  • Optimize hospital throughput, staffing models, and resource utilization
  • Champion process improvement initiatives across departments and service lines
  • Support and grow physician relationships and community partnerships
  • Identify and execute growth opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness across the hospital What We're Looking For We are seeking a proven hospital leader with a strong foundation in acute care operations and a track record of progressive leadership growth.
Required:
  • Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in acute care hospital operations
Highly Preferred:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting
  • Experience leading complex departments, service lines, or hospital-wide initiatives
  • Strong understanding of hospital throughput, patient flow, and operational performance metrics
  • Experience working collaboratively with physicians and clinical leadership
  • Proven ability to lead change, drive results, and influence at the executive level Why University Health?
