This position will also support purchasing activities and RFP requirements as needed. Duties Develop and maintain vendor relationships Coordinate with internal groups to ensure vendors are properly supported to maintain Subcontract schedule Ensure vendor compliance with all subcontract requirements Assist and advise engineering, quality, accounting, production, and project management departments as needed to ensure project milestones and requirements are met. Regularly report vendor status to management groups Monitor shipments and deliveries advising the logistics department of best shipping methods to maintain the production schedule in the most cost efficient way Vendor invoice reconciliation Maintain Purchasing files and documents Maintain records and prepares documents for Buy America compliance and audits Maintain records and prepares reports for DBE compliance Maintain regular vendor communications through meetings, email, or other communication forms to ensure delivery information is current Some travel will be required (domestic and international) Other duties and projects as assigned. Experience Strong problem solving skills Ability to work with diverse personality and cultural groups 3+ years working experience in the rail industry, preferably in a purchasing or contracts capacity Advanced computer skills on MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) Ability to work independently or with minimal oversight on standard problems Ability to organize and prioritize to meet strict deadlines. Ability to analyze current processes, identify areas of inefficiency and suggest improvements Ability to read, understand, and discuss basic technical concepts. Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings and documents is a plus Strong background in managing multiple supplier issues simultaneously is desired Bachelor's Degree in Business or related area or equivalent experience in Purchasing or Contract.
