Job Description
The Forester - Woodlands Leased Land Contract Administrator is responsible for managing all facets of timberland leases/contracts and make recommendations to the management team. Assist the Woodlands Manager in strategic planning with emerging initiatives, day-to-day environmental compliance, preparing various permit applications, and regulatory reports.
Principle Accountabilities:
Administrative aspects of long-term timber leases and other woodland contracts Support PCA Procurement & Woodland personnel Accountable for ensuring the payment of all ad valorem taxes, severance taxes, and personal property taxes Represent PCA and support American Tree Farm Programs in Georgia & Florida Promote Environmental Education & Outreach through Project Learning Tree (PLT) in Georgia and Florida Supports PCA's commitment to forest certification through the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Program & Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Coordinate PCA's annual logger education training program Review and administer long-term timberland leases/contracts. Make recommendations to management regarding requests/issues related to these long-term contracts and ensure compliance with all terms of each contract. Analyze potential Timber and Timberland transactions Ability to make recommendations to Management. Communicate with Landowners to resolve and negotiate issues arising with timberland transactions. Process long-term leased timberland disposals, easements, and exchanges. Prepare legal documents for land transactions and work with in-house and external legal counsel. Audit open market wood harvesting for compliance with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). Manage and process all ad valorem taxes, timber severance taxes, and land record activities. Maintain timber inventory database. Prepare annual timberland accounting schedules. Work with landowner outreach/education programs to support the SFI programs. Support the Tree Farm Program. Implement/communicate new regulations to the affected operating area and compliance programs, including training, recordkeeping, and compliance task scheduling. Support the Mill's goals for safety, environmental, and other areas of need. Perform other responsibilities as needed. Basic Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Forestry with knowledge of Forest Management, Forest Biology, Forest Measurements, and Inventory is preferred. A basic understanding of tree species, good forestry practices, and wood procurement practices. A demonstrated knowledge of timber harvesting operations and industry practices. Experience using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Word A minimum of 3-8 years' experience, or the equivalent, in industrial Forestry. Successful completion of a drug screen is required, and authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Qualifications Pulp & Paper industry experience preferred.
