Direct Hire | Onsite | Northampton, MA $80,000-$82,500 Our client, a mission-driven organization in the human services space, is seeking a Contracts and Budget Analyst to serve as a key financial resource for publicly funded programs. This role will manage the full lifecycle of state contracts, support program budgeting and forecasting, and partner closely with leadership and program teams to monitor financial performance and ensure compliance. Key Responsibilities State Contracts Management Manage the full lifecycle of state-funded contracts, including review, execution, amendments, and closeout Serve as a primary point of contact for state agencies regarding contract questions, reporting deadlines, audits, and related requirements Interpret contract language, identify compliance obligations, and proactively flag potential risks Ensure invoices, reports, and deliverables are submitted accurately and on time Budgeting and Financial Analysis Develop, maintain, and monitor program and organizational budgets, with a focus on publicly funded programs Perform variance analysis, forecasting, and trend reporting to support leadership decision-making Partner with program leaders to review budget-to-actual performance, explain variances, and support corrective action planning Build and maintain financial models for program planning, contract renewals, and scenario analysis Recommend and support improvements to budgeting tools, templates, and reporting processes Compliance and Reporting Maintain audit-ready records and support internal and external audits Ensure compliance with GAAP, state contract requirements, and internal financial policies Analyze funding sources, restrictions, and allowable costs to help maximize available program resources Support the development and strengthening of internal controls related to budget and contract compliance Generate and reconcile reports from financial systems to support budgeting, reporting, and audit readiness Collaboration and Support Provide financial data and projections in support of grant and contract proposals Help program staff understand budget management and contract compliance expectations Participate in cross-functional efforts that connect finance, compliance, and program operations Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field 3-5 years of experience in budget management, financial analysis, or contract administration Experience in a nonprofit, government-funded, public-sector, or human services environment strongly preferred Working knowledge of state contract structures, funding regulations, and reporting requirements Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, and financial modeling Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines across programs Preferred Experience with Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) and/or Workday Familiarity with Massachusetts state agency contracting processes Background in human services, behavioral health, nonprofit finance, or public-sector finance Experience supporting audit preparation and responding to agency or funder inquiries #IND123
