Proposal and Estimating Specialist

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Proposal and Estimating Specialist to support our sales and engineering teams in the preparation of accurate, competitive, and compelling proposals for engine and battery test systems. This role is critical in translating customer requirements into cost-effective solutions, ensuring alignment with technical capabilities, project timelines, and business goals.

Key Responsibilities Proposal Development:

Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to develop comprehensive technical and commercial proposals. Interpret customer specifications and RFQs to define scope, deliverables, and pricing strategies. Prepare proposal documentation including technical descriptions, pricing summaries, schedules, and compliance matrices. Develop detailed cost estimates for test systems, including mechanical, electrical, software, and integration components. Source and validate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure accuracy and competitiveness. Maintain and update cost databases and estimation tools. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and technical discussions with customers. Provide clarification and revisions during the proposal review and negotiation phases.

Process Improvement:

Contribute to the continuous improvement of proposal templates, estimating tools, and AI internal workflows. Track proposal outcomes and provide feedback to improve win rates and estimation accuracy.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree - Engineering 5+ years of experience in proposal development or estimating, preferably in the test systems, automotive, aerospace, or energy sectors. Strong understanding of engine and/or battery testing technologies and systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and estimating software. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with test cell design, instrumentation, and automation systems. Familiarity with ISO, SAE, or other relevant industry standards.
