Contracts Manager —
Federal Government Contracting Location:
Huntsville, Alabama - flexible environment

Position Description :
We are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee the full lifecycle of federal government contracts within our portfolio as a trusted advisor to program managers, business development, finance, and executive leadership, ensuring compliance with federal acquisition regulations while protecting company interests and enabling business growth. The role offers a path from contract engagement to permanent placement for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
The Contracts Manager will have a significant role, working with Business Development, Human Resources, Finance and Security as well as Program Offices, in pre-award and post-award activities. This includes reviewing solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs), analyzing terms and conditions, identifying risk areas, and developing mitigation strategies in coordination with capture and proposal teams. The individual will draft, negotiate, and administer a range of contract types and vehicles, including FFP, T&M, CPFF, CPIF, IDIQ, BPA, and GSA Schedules/ task orders, as well as nondisclosure agreements, teaming agreements, and subcontracts with both large and small business partners. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining company profiles across all federal systems required to manage federal contracts, preparing and submitting representations and certifications, managing a portfolio of contracts, reviewing/processing contract modifications, ensuring timely delivery of CDRLs and contract reporting, monitoring funding and period-of-performance limits, processing CPARS responses, negotiating subcontractor agreements (NDAs, teaming agreements, subcontract agreements), managing subcontractors and serving as the primary point of contact with federal contracting officers and contract specialists. The Contracts Manager will also maintain accurate contract files in compliance with internal policies and
DCAA/DCMA
audit standards and will help shape internal processes as the contracts function matures.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
Candidates should bring a minimum of 6-10 years of progressive contracts management experience working for federal contractors. (Experience supporting DoD and the Intelligence Community is a plus). A demonstrated working knowledge of the FAR and applicable supplements (DFARS,DEAR,HHSAR, etc.) is essential, along with hands-on experience administering multiple contract types and vehicles simultaneously.
Required qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Law, Public Administration, or related field; equivalent experience considered Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and NDAs Working fluency with
FAR/DFARS
clauses, flow down requirements, and federal compliance obligations (including TINA, Service Contract Act, Buy American Act, and cybersecurity requirements such as DFARS 252.204-7012 and CMMC) Experience with GSA Schedules, GWACs (e.g., GSA
OASIS+, GSA
Polaris), and IDIQ task order management Familiarity with cost and pricing principles, including support to proposal pricing reviews and basis-of-estimate development Proficiency with federal contract management systems and tools such as SAM.gov, e
SRS, FPDS
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate contractual risk into clear guidance for non-contracts stakeholders U.S. citizenship required due to the nature of the work
Bonus Qualifications:
Bonus but not required qualifications include an active NCMA certification (CFCM, CPCM, or CCCM), exposure to international contracting (ITAR/EAR). Candidates with a JD or paralegal background and a focus on government contracts law are also encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture, comfortable operating with ambiguity, and skilled at building collaborative relationships across functional teams. They should be able to manage competing deadlines across multiple active procurements, exercise sound judgment on risk-versus-opportunity trade-offs and communicate confidently with senior government and industry counterparts.
