The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Defined Contribution Plan Administrator to be among the first to join our retirement plan services team. In this role, you will take ownership of complex defined contribution plan administration for a portfolio of clients, serve as a subject matter expert in compliance and plan design, and mentor junior staff. This is a high-impact position for a skilled professional who thrives in a detail-oriented, client-service environment, and who finds the idea of getting in early genuinely exciting. What You'll Do Plan Administration & Recordkeeping Administer defined contribution plans (401(k), profit sharing, and related plan types) for small to medium-sized business clients Interpret trust financial statements and reconcile retirement plan accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies Prepare valuation reports, participant statements, and periodic balance sheets and income statements Calculate vesting schedules in accordance with plan design and regulatory standards Calculate loan availability, and prepare distribution packages for terminated, retired, or deceased participants Review QDROs and process distributions to alternate payees Compliance Testing Independently perform ADP/ACP, 410
(b) coverage, top-heavy, 415 annual addition limits, and cross-testing using ASC valuation system Determine data integrity and identify compliance issues, making recommendations to bring plans into compliance Allocate employer contributions under pro-rata, and integrated formulas Government Reporting Complete required governmental reporting, including Forms 5500, 1099-R, 945, and 5330 Engage with external auditors on plan audits and collaborate to resolve audit findings Client & Advisor Relations Serve as primary liaison between clients and relationship managers, explaining regulatory requirements in clear, accessible terms Discuss plan design changes with relationship managers and communicate administration recommendations directly with clients and their advisors Coordinate with prior TPAs, investment advisors, and clients on plan conversions and takeovers Accompany relationship managers to client and participant meetings to assist in presentations Team Leadership Review and validate work completed by plan administrators and support staff Mentor less experienced team members on procedures, policies, and compliance standards Update internal procedures and train colleagues on regulatory and legislative changes Maintain current knowledge of retirement plan legislation, ERISA, and the Internal Revenue Code Develop and document standards of practice for defined contribution plan administration, establishing repeatable processes and quality benchmarks for use by future team members Contribute to the foundation of a growing TPA practice by identifying operational gaps and recommending policies that will scale with the team What We're Looking For Required Minimum five (5) years of direct, hands-on experience administering defined contribution retirement plans Background in recordkeeping, compliance testing, plan conversions, and trust accounting High degree of technical and legal knowledge, including familiarity with the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA as they apply to qualified plans Proficiency with Microsoft 365 products Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences Bachelor's or associate degree with emphasis in business, finance, or accounting Demonstrated ability to mentor staff and lead compliance-related training Preferred Professional credentials: QPA or QKA Experience with FT William 5500 & document software and ASC valuation & compliance suite Pay:
