Job Description

Senior Retirement Plan Administrator (401(k) / TPA) Totowa, NJ or Morganville, NJ (Hybrid) $90,000 - $110,000 Important This is a specialized retirement plan administration role within a Third-Party Administration (TPA) environment. We are specifically seeking professionals with hands-on 401(k)/defined contribution plan administration experience . •We are not considering candidates whose backgrounds are primarily in HR, payroll, general accounting, bookkeeping, or financial advising-unless aligned with true TPA services About the Role We are building a growing TPA retirement plan services team and are seeking an experienced retirement plan administrator to manage a portfolio of defined contribution plans from start to finish. You will be responsible for the full annual cycle of plan administration including compliance testing, government filings, trust reconciliation, and client support. This is a technical, detail-heavy, client-facing administration role within ERISA qualified retirement plans. What You Will Do Full Plan Administration Manage assigned 401(k), profit sharing, and related defined contribution plans Review census and payroll data for accuracy and eligibility Maintain participant records including eligibility, vesting, and allocations Process plan transactions including loans, distributions, and corrections Compliance & Testing Perform annual compliance testing:
ADP/ACP 410
(b) coverage Top-heavy testing 402(g) and 415 limits Cross-testing / allocation testing (as applicable) Identify failures and recommend corrections (EPCRS) Government Reporting Prepare and review Form 5500 filings and supporting schedules Prepare participant reporting (including 1099-R where applicable) Assist with audits and auditor requests Trust Reconciliation Reconcile plan trust and recordkeeping data Review contributions, earnings, forfeitures, and allocations Resolve discrepancies between payroll, custodian, and system data Client Support Serve as a key point of contact for plan sponsors and advisors Explain testing results and compliance requirements in clear terms Support plan changes, conversions, and onboarding of new plans What We're Looking For 3-5+ years of 401(k) / defined contribution plan administration experience Experience working in a TPA, recordkeeping, or retirement plan services environment Hands-on experience with: Compliance testing (ADP/ACP, 410(b), 415, top-heavy) Form 5500 preparation Participant distributions and plan corrections Strong Excel and data reconciliation skills Ability to manage multiple plans independently Preferred Experience QKA or similar retirement plan credential (or in progress) Experience with systems such as Relius, FT William, ASC, Datair, or PensionPro Experience working with auditors or audited plans Why This Role Join a newly built TPA practice with growth potential Take ownership of a full book of retirement plans Work directly with clients and advisors in a technical, high-impact role Opportunity to grow into senior leadership as the team expands
