AVP, Reinsurance Accounting

Job Summary A global insurance and reinsurance organization is seeking an AVP-level professional to lead its corporate ceded reinsurance accounting function. This role will oversee a team responsible for the accounting, reporting, and administration of ceded and retrocession arrangements across both intercompany and third party programs. This is a high visibility position with direct exposure to senior leadership and cross functional teams, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a complex global reinsurance structure while driving process improvements and operational efficiency. Skills & Experience 10+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting, with a strong focus on ceded or retrocession Deep understanding of reinsurance treaty structures including pro rata and excess of loss Experience managing or mentoring teams within an accounting or reinsurance function Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance accounting principles, including financial reporting requirements Ability to analyze complex data and provide actionable insights to senior stakeholders Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across finance, actuarial, claims, and external parties Proven ability to improve processes and enhance operational efficiency Proficiency in Excel and other standard financial systems Detailed Job Description Lead the accounting and administration of ceded and retrocession reinsurance programs, including both intercompany and third party arrangements Oversee the consolidation and analysis of ceded reinsurance results across multiple business units and regions Manage quarterly and annual reporting requirements, including financial statement disclosures, balance sheet reconciliations, and regulatory schedules Supervise the calculation of recoveries, reinstatement premiums, and collateral requirements Review reinsurance treaty structures and support renewal processes Partner with internal teams including actuarial, claims, legal, and finance to ensure accurate reporting and alignment across functions Monitor and manage billing and collections related to reinsurance recoverables, identifying and resolving issues as needed Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning related to ceded reinsurance activities Evaluate existing processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce manual work Provide leadership and development to a team of accounting professionals If interested, please apply to the role or email your resume to Ryan Borchers at Ryan.
