Job Description

Summary Objective The purpose of this position is to manage fundraising programs, grants, contributions, deferred gifts, and development plans. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
  • Assists in budget preparation and monitors and controls expenditures.
  • Interprets and renders decisions regarding regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates and monitors programs for effectiveness and recommends modifications and improvements.
  • Attends meetings and represents the department to the public to provide information and answer questions concerning programs, projects and activities.
  • Manages fundraising functions for a department, and develops strategies to achieve fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Directs fundraising studies, community assessment projects, and the development of operational methods and procedures.
  • Approves development plans, budgets, timetables, evaluation criteria and strategies for fundraising goals to increase the financial viability of the organization.
  • Participates in meetings to report on the status of development finances and activities.
  • Presents funding proposals to individuals, corporations, foundations, and community agencies to support and sponsor projects and programs.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Advertising, Communications, Marketing, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
  • Four (4) years of marketing, fundraising, public relations, or development experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
EQUIVALENCY
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, but must include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Must provide one's own source of transportation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
