This role develops and executes territory-level strategies aligned with company goals, drives written premium growth, supports retention initiatives, monitors loss ratios, and ensures consistent execution of company policies, procedures, and service expectations. The Territory Director provides leadership, coaching, and accountability to managers while partnering closely with executive leadership, Human Resources, and internal departments to support staffing, training, compliance, performance management, and business growth. Key Responsibilities Business Growth & Performance Develop and execute territory strategies that support company sales, profitability, retention, and growth goals. Set, monitor, and evaluate written premium goals, sales goals, and other key performance indicators. Identify opportunities to grow the book of business through cross-selling, customer retention, referral development, and improved sales practices. Monitor territory performance trends and implement action plans to address gaps or underperformance. Stay informed of market conditions, competitor activity, and business opportunities within the territory. Conduct regular location visits to assess operations, customer experience, sales execution, and employee performance. Observe and coach managers and agents to improve sales effectiveness, customer service, and operational consistency. Financial Management Oversee financial performance for the territory, including sales results, operating expenses, and profitability. Review profit and loss performance and identify opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. Develop and monitor corrective action plans when financial or operational exceptions occur. Operations & Compliance Ensure all locations operate in accordance with company policies, procedures, and standards. Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and insurance industry regulations, including licensing, privacy, fraud, and safety requirements. Ensure all P&C licensing requirements are followed and maintained. Support multi-state compliance by staying informed of state-specific insurance requirements, employment laws, claims notification timelines, and operational mandates. Promote strong documentation practices and adherence to standard operating procedures for quoting, binding, file maintenance, and customer communications. Help reduce Errors & Omissions exposure by reinforcing consistent procedures, compliance standards, and quality controls. Ensure managers and employees are informed of policy, procedural, regulatory, and operational updates. Leadership & Team Development Lead, coach, and develop managers and team members across the assigned territory. Build strong succession plans and support employee growth and development. Provide clear expectations, realistic performance goals, and accountability standards. Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, compliance, service excellence, and continuous improvement. Maintain regular and proactive communication with stores, corporate partners, and executive leadership. Partner with Human Resources on staffing, recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning. Evaluate manager performance regularly and provide timely feedback, coaching, and development support. Address customer concerns promptly, professionally, and with a solution-focused approach. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered. Minimum of 3 years of multi-location management experience Active Property & Casualty Insurance License a plus. Strong understanding of sales performance, compliance requirements, and customer service standards. Proven ability to lead, coach, develop, and motivate diverse teams in a fast-paced environment. Strong financial acumen, including the ability to analyze sales metrics, profitability, and performance trends. Excellent planning, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn company systems and reporting tools. Ability to work collaboratively with leadership, Human Resources, managers, employees, and business partners. Essential Functions & Work Requirements Ability to travel independently to agency locations and other business-related sites. Ability to travel approximately 60% of the time within the assigned territory. Remaining work time may be spent at the corporate office or other designated company locations. Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and valid automobile insurance. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, by email, and through virtual meeting platforms. Ability to review reports, analyze data, conduct store visits, provide coaching, and support company objectives.
