40 JOB SUMMARY The Managing Director of Development will be responsible for leading and supporting the major gift officers supporting the mission of Anne Carlsen by raising financial support for the organization. This position will manage a portfolio of donors and potential supporters. The Managing Director of Development is responsible for providing strategy, guidance for portfolio management of the development directors. The Managing Director of Development will have the opportunity to share the benefits of a variety of giving opportunities with potential supporters.
QUALIFICATIONS
(minimum requirements) Education and/or years' experience required: Bachelor's degree in related field or commensurate experience Five years' experience of public-facing skills Ability to travel (primarily in-state) with occasional overnight stay
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Three years' experience of demonstrated success in development, fundraising, planned giving or trust management Experience with CRM Masters degree preferred in Non-Profit Management Supervision of others/decision making aptitude (if applicable): This position will provide supervision of development positions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrate the ability to build relationships with current and potential donor prospects. Demonstrates ability to share the benefits of annual giving, major-giving and planned-giving with potential donors. Demonstrates the ability to lead/mentor major gift officers amongst the team. Demonstrate the ability to strategize donor moves management. Demonstrate the ability to engage in personal contact with current and future donors to discuss opportunities for supporting programs of Anne Carlsen. Demonstrate the ability to manage a portfolio of prospects and supporters. Demonstrate the ability to move donors through "moves management" to the solicitation stage and asking for support at the major gift level. Demonstrate the ability to solicit major and planned gifts by meeting the individual metrics and goals established with the Chief Development Officer (CDO). Demonstrate the ability to connect potential donors with the appropriate legal and financial advisors to assist in gift planning by soliciting wealth managers, estate planners and insurance vendors' expertise. Demonstrate ability to lead individuals and monitor related KPI's on the development team to meet individual goals as set by the CDO. Demonstrate the ability to work in conjunction with staff and volunteers to ensure the highest standards in donor relations. Demonstrates the ability to report weekly to CDO regarding cultivation and solicitation activities to secure annual, major gift and planned gift solicitations. Demonstrates the ability to develop and implement donor strategic plans to enhance giving and move donors through the donor life cycle. Demonstrate the ability to ensure proposals, actions, contacts and solicitation strategies are entered in the fund development database. Demonstrates ability to solve problems independently and prioritize multiple tasks Demonstrates ability to plan and schedule trips efficiently.
