Maintenance Director, Summer Camp Director Position Summary The Assistant Director serves as a key leadership partner alongside the Executive Director in helping advance the mission, ministry, guest experience, and daily excellence of Geneva Hills. This role provides leadership in guest services, retreat ministry, activity coordination, summer camp leadership, staff recruitment, and organizational operations within a highly relational Christian camp environment. The Assistant Director helps strengthen relationships with churches, retreat groups, campers, families, summer staff, ministry leaders, and community partners while assisting in the overall coordination and effectiveness of Geneva Hills operations. This position is designed for a highly relational leader who naturally connects with people while helping cultivate a Christ-centered culture focused on servant leadership, ministry excellence, and spiritual growth. Key Job Functions Guest Services & Retreat Ministry Serve as a primary contact for retreat groups and guest organizations throughout the planning and hosting process. Help coordinate retreat schedules, guest communication, activity planning, lodging arrangements, and event preparation. Assist with retreat hosting responsibilities including guest check-in, relationship building, problem solving, and on-site support during retreats and events. Accurately communicate guest expectations and event details to staff to ensure activities, meals, facilities, and lodging are prepared with excellence. Conduct post-event follow-up with guest groups to strengthen relationships, gather feedback, and encourage future bookings. Build strong relationships with retreat leaders, churches, schools, and returning guest groups. Activity Coordination & Program Oversight Oversee the coordination, scheduling, preparation, and upkeep of camp activities and program areas. Work alongside the Maintenance Director to help ensure activity equipment and program spaces are safe, organized, and prepared for guest use. Personally lead or coordinate approved staff and volunteers to facilitate activities and program elements for retreats, camps, and special events. Help evaluate current activity offerings and recommend improvements, additions, or modifications based on guest feedback and ministry goals. Assist in maintaining systems for proper use, organization, and care of activity equipment and supplies. Summer Camp Leadership & Staff Development Partner with the Summer Camp Program Director to help lead and strengthen the summer camp ministry. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising summer staff members. Represent Geneva Hills at colleges, churches, conferences, camps, and ministry events to recruit and engage prospective summer staff. Serve as a primary leader in developing relationships with prospective and returning summer staff throughout the year. Help cultivate a Christ-centered summer staff culture focused on servant leadership, spiritual growth, and ministry excellence. Serve as a primary spiritual leader and discipler amongst the summer staff team. Assist with chapel services, worship leadership, speaking, camper engagement, and spiritual programming as needed. Help support camper behavior, staff relationships, and the overall spiritual atmosphere of the summer camp ministry. Community & Ministry Engagement Build and strengthen relationships with churches, pastors, schools, families, ministry leaders, and community organizations. Represent Geneva Hills at churches, conferences, ministry events, schools, and community gatherings. Assist with promotion and recruitment efforts for retreats, camps, and ministry programs. Help communicate the mission, vision, and opportunities of Geneva Hills throughout the community. Maintain positive and professional communication with guests, churches, campers, families, and ministry partners. Administrative & Organizational Leadership Assist the Executive Director with organizational leadership and day-to-day ministry operations. Help support communication, scheduling, planning, and coordination across departments and ministry programs. Assist with volunteer coordination, special projects, and seasonal ministry needs. Help identify opportunities to improve guest experience, operational effectiveness, and ministry impact. Contribute to a healthy, sustainable, and team-oriented work environment amongst staff and volunteers. Other Duties An assistant director in a small-medium organization like Geneva Hills is often called upon to perform a wide variety of duties. This may include many of the following duties (not an exhaustive list): Assisting with maintenance duties like repairs, construction, landscaping, and lawn care. Assisting with housekeeping duties like cleaning, sweeping, and mopping. Assisting with kitchen duties like dishwashing, and food preparation Experience and Qualifications Requirements Affirms as true the Geneva Hills Statement of Faith. Provide spiritual guidance and counsel within the theological framework of Geneva Hills. Display maturity and skill in working with a wide variety of people and situations. Communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Preferably will possess a bachelor's degree and master's degree (or equivalent experiences) Be in good standing with a local church. Preferably has significant prior Christian ministry or camping experience. (5 years or more) Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, bend, and twist. Ability to push and pull loads. Must be able to lift frequently up to 35 lbs.; occasionally 35-100 lbs. with assistance Good hand-eye coordination. Auditory ability to hear and understand conversational levels of sound in an ordinary office environment.
