ABOUT THE POSITION
DMGroup is hiring a Director to join our DMConsulting team in our Boston office. The Director will play a leadership role on the firm's consulting team, driving the growth of a consulting practice through business development, client relationship ownership, and thought leadership in the K-12 education sector. The Director owns a portfolio of client engagements, leads business development conversations from prospective through close, and contributes to practice-building by developing DMGroup's methodologies, intellectual capital, and external presence. The Director leads a team of Associates and Senior Associates in developing strategies to address the most challenging, high-impact issues that public school systems face, ensuring consistent delivery of outstanding results. This role will be based out of DMGroup's headquarters in Boston, MA, with flexibility to work from home up to two days a week based on schedule and team needs. The Director must be able to travel up to 20%.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own a portfolio of client relationships and serve as the senior point of contact for district leadership. Build and sustain long-term relationships that support client retention and expansion. Lead business development activity across consulting, membership, and technology solutions. Identify and cultivate prospective client relationships, drive conversations from initial interest through close, and partner with the CEO to pursue strategic growth opportunities. Own and develop a practice area. Build DMGroup's intellectual capital through developing and refining methodologies, frameworks, and tools. Serve as an internal expert and external voice on the practice area's subject matter. Represent DMGroup externally through conference presentations, published content, member convenings, and sector relationships. Build DMGroup's visibility and reputation in the education sector. Manage and direct up to 6 consulting engagements at a time, ensuring that client objectives, timelines, and budgets are met. Establish clear expectations and work with the consulting team to ensure the job gets done to the highest of quality and standards. Adapt problem solving approaches successfully to solve new problems. Provide ongoing feedback, direction, and coaching to a team of Associates and Senior Associates, capturing broad opportunities for professional and personal growth. Contribute to firm-wide growth strategy in partnership with senior leadership. Identify opportunities to deepen and expand relationships with existing clients across DMGroup's service lines. Contribute to DMGroup's member network through publishing, conference programming, and engagement with member leaders. Other duties as reasonably assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree (required) Master's degree in Business Administration (preferred) 6-8 years of experience within a leading strategy consulting firm or education organization, with a demonstrated track record of exceptional success and growing client relationships Demonstrated ability to lead business development conversations and build relationships with senior clients and stakeholders, including district and system leaders Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams of highly qualified consultants Expert quantitative analysis and critical reasoning skills and ability to apply a broad range of frameworks, approaches and methodologies to solve complex business problems Experience evaluating processes and organizational structure and working with clients to create lasting change Passion for innovative and creative thinking to help improve public education with a drive to deliver tangible business results Highly developed integrative skills with the ability to establish credibility and shepherd resources from across the firm to help drive significant growth Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills along with the ability to distill complex business analysis and recommendations into succinct, persuasive executive presentations A culturally competent and self-reflective leader who understands the effects of race, class, ethnicity, income, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, and other issues of difference in society and is able to lead direct conversations about them
