Position Summary The Origination Analyst assists senior members of the originations team in reviewing affordable multifamily loan proposals and provides detailed and high-level analysis [JB1.1]for different levels of the hierarchy within the Rental Business Development Division. This role supports the origination of loans that preserve, recapitalize, and create new multifamily affordable housing using both taxable and tax-exempt sources of capital. The Origination Analyst also contributes to other MassHousing programs and related transactions, including the BILD Program, which includes the Momentum Fund equity and FORGE debt initiatives, as well as the multifamily activities of the Massachusetts Community Climate Bank. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Special Lending Programs. MassHousing operates under a hybrid work model; therefore, employees are expected to work on-site according to a schedule determined in collaboration with their manager and based on the needs of the role. To support effective onboarding, new employees may be required to work in the office more frequently during their first 90 days. Essential Functions Multifamily Loan Analysis Review loan information submitted by potential borrowers, input loan data into origination and underwriting models, and conduct financial analysis Draft key documents, including financing term sheets, conceptual loan proposals, and Board Loan Commitment Proposals, in preparation for loan commitments Serve as a liaison between internal and external business partners and gather, interpret, and analyze data and mortgage-related information from property owners and other third-party sources Relationship and Communication Management Initiate calls and participate in meetings to review preliminary loan information, including sources and uses, income and expense statements, market information, and other supporting documents Assist in developing relationships with potential borrowers in support of Rental Business Development colleagues who serve as the primary points of contact in preliminary loan review and structuring Foster positive relationships with borrowers, internal deal teams, and other key stakeholders, ensuring timely, consistent, and appropriate communication across all phases of the loan cycle Operational and Programmatic Support Administer the origination model to ensure accurate analysis and loan structuring Execute a wide variety of special assignments, including but not limited to conducting research on industry and MassHousing business metrics, creating analytical tools, assisting in the development and management of mission-driven debt and grant programs, and supporting other assignments related to business development or loan processing Security Comply with MassHousing's Information Security Program and all other Agency information security policies and procedures Take responsibility for any Agency assets assigned to you Promptly report any security events, incidents, or weaknesses to MassHousing's Information Security Team Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, business administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience 2+ years of substantive experience in finance or real estate Working knowledge of basic finance and financial analysis principles Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Eligibility to work in, and travel freely to and from, the United States without sponsorship Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in finance, real estate management, business administration, or related field Familiarity with the real estate development process Knowledge of Massachusetts and federal affordable multifamily housing financing programs Demonstrated history of academic success and professional development Strong command of Microsoft Excel for the creation of complex spreadsheets and analytical models Essential Characteristics Team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with proven problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills that support collaboration with key stakeholders Comfortable multitasking in a high-volume environment, adjusts quickly to shifting priorities, and manages time efficiently with a demanding workload Salary Range:
